DOJ Rules that Female Athletes Do Not Have To Compete Against Girls That Are Boys.

Okay.... I agree that even in the best of circumstances nothing is fair....and yes some people have inherent advantages over others irrespective of their gender or size or any other external indicators.

And yes sometimes the underdog wins and that is what makes things interesting. but in all of these instances there are still rules and regulations that have to be adhered to and the DOJ is stepping in because they see a need for such rules and regulations to be modified to restore a spirit of competitiveness in these areas. a reply to: AugustusMasonicus

These black and white rules are problematic. No consideration is given at all to MtF trans girls who have undergone puberty suppression and never developed physically as males. Many of those that have are also started on estrogen at 15 or 16 and are outwardly physically and socially indistinguishable from natal girls with the exception of course the downstairs bits which in themselves do not confer much in the way of an athletic advantage.

There are a lot of physical/mental reasons why someone can not compete as maybe as they would like. Case in point, a 220 pound woman in high school has no weight category to compete in, so it is not like they can just join the 157 lbs max division, so things like self choices in life could prevent people from competing in sports. Just like if my choice was to take drugs it could leave me ineligible to compete, and I'm not talking just steroids.

If a person says they are mentally a woman or man, but not physically then great, but that choice should limit them to compete in either case unless there are enough athletes within their group that can compete with each other.

You're confusing "credit" with "blame".

Trans people want their cake and to eat it to.

They need to decide which is more important: serious athletic competition or attempting to force their outer seeming to match what they believe their inner self to be.

The rules of athletic competition go so far toward forcing all the rest of us to compete with our natural equipment that for us to artificially use hormones would be considered cheating and grounds for us to be banned. And yet good ol' Mack up there can use those hormones and call them "medical treatment" and alter the equipment with which she was born and compete seriously against others.

That isn't fair to those others who would be banned for doing the same no matter their reasons.

And I don't care what reasons anyone for what division Mack is or is not put into this or that division to compete.

The point is that if all other athletes are expected to compete with their natural bodies, then so should trans-athletes. They can be serious athletes or they can attempt to alter their bodies to match what they feel inside, but doing both violates rules the other athletes are expected to conform to. No one says they can't compete in local rec leagues on co-ed teams, but serious competition should not be allowed unless they form special divisions for trans athletes.

It’s sad that somehow we needed this ruling in the first place.

Women faught hard, and for good biological and psychological reasons, for separate but equal access to sports.

And they should continue to fight for these rights.

That seems to be the general consensus. No DOJ ruling or decision was needed, just to reinforce what is common sense.

Not only are you absolutely on point....IMHO they should make it a criminal offense to litigate to try to force We the People to accept the small special interest groups none of us wish to accommodate...Nuisance Lawsuits where people using weaponised funded small special interest groups try to force un-natural issues to the legal system to screw the majority need to be punished......the days when people validated the overt propaganda spewed forth on MSM by covertly funded weaponised small special interest groups focused on disrupting the socio-economic balance of the World.....are over now.

Hmm. Normal course according to recent trends would dictate that the boys wanting to compete with these girls would be hailed as brave heroes, maybe next contenders for women of the year, and these girls accused of a hate crime or "micro-aggressive criminal intent"?

The DOJ filed a legal document Tuesday in Hartford, Conn., where the anti-LGBTQ Alliance Defending Freedom is representing three high school girls in their suit to stop transgender girls from competing in school sports. The Trump Administration has now joined the ADF in resorting to transphobic terms to misidentify trans girls in court documents as “biological males” and “boys.”

The Dept. of Justice’s statement of interest argues the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference is violating Title IX, the federal law that provides equal educational opportunities for girls, including in athletics.

The CIAC says its seven-year-old policy for trans student athletes abides by state law that requires schools to respect the gender identity of students and treat them according to how they identify. And the conference points to guidance by federal court rulings and the prior federal administration, including the Justice Department, in drafting the inclusive policy.

Barr and his DOJ cohorts argue the CIAC is mistaken.

“Under CIAC’s interpretation of Title IX, however, schools may not account for the real physiological differences between men and women.

Instead, schools must have certain biological males — namely, those who publicly identify as female — compete against biological females,” wrote Barr and his team.

“In so doing, CIAC deprives those women of the single-sex athletic competitions that are one of the marquee accomplishments of Title IX."

There's a Men's division.
There's a Women's division.
Why not a Trans Division.
