That’s not a push pin, it’s a dreidel, symbolising our struggle against the tyranny of time repeating itself.
Need to be more woke about this stuff.
Don’t even get me started on the twin elephant heads next to it... reply to: BeyondBlessed

A serious reply, this time.
You mean the three icons which appear at the top right of each post?
You use the last one if you simply want to reply to that post.
You use the middle one, the quotation marks, if you want to quote a portion of the post when replying to it. Ideally, you delete everyhting in that post except the specific point you want to reply to. "Quoting" the whole of the other post is a bad habit and takes up too much space. It leads to an awkward "nesting" phenomenon of quotes within quotes, which the software tries to inhibit.
Using the first item, the "link", allows you to copy the address of the specific post, for linking purposes. I've almost never had occasion to use it.

P.S. In the first version of this post, I misunderstood which icons you meant, and gave you advice on the wrong ones. I've just come out of "edit" to discover I've already got two stars on that "wrong" version!

to be blunt - they are blisteringly obvious - and even have a text pop-out when you click one

they are a pretty std feature of any internet forum engine
