Vice President Mike Pence announced the Trump administration's plan to extend the travel ban to include the UK and Ireland effective Monday at midnight. Citizens will be brought back and screened in a controlled fashion it appears.

Right given the EU's free movement policy and scratch at best response to the virus except in Italy and also to a lesser degree in Spain this is more than understandable, adding the UK were I live is also more than understandable given Boris Johnson's poor response to the threat in which he has gambled, nay spent human lives in order to minimize or stave of for a short them the economic damage that the inevitable need for quarantine is going to bring with it.

I have to say as far as my own government is concerned the Tory's have always been for the rich, they have always claimed to be for everyone but in reality only for the rich whom are there financial backers, they only do what is good for the hedge fund's, the company's and corporations, the private landlords and the investors they never do what is good for the people in general though in time's when GLOBAL economic's are good they always claim credit and success while when global economic's are bad they find ways to blame the left even if they have not been anywhere near to power for over a decade.

People will die and in the UK a hell of a lot more people are going to die than is necessary because of our government's absolutely idiotic approach to handling the virus so far.

In the UK the government has decided to keep the school's open despite them being one of the main areas were this Contagion will spread, there excuse how do you keep children occupied for 13 week's or more if the school's are shut down and how do you stop them gathering anyway - reality most kid's these day's are glued to there consoles and mobile phone's and firm but fair parenting can keep those kid's in line, it's a think veiled decision which is more about the economic impact than it is about saving lives from a government that does not want to invest in society but only in private enterprise and the few that benefit from that.

So while your government has made this decision it is actually the correct decision though how your government then handles the crisis at home is likely far more important, my belief all passenger travel should be stopped immediately to limit spread of the virus and all country's should take this action immediately, freight and commercial need not be affected but good's that may be contaminated should be sterilized with the sender and receiver nation's government's taking the appropriate step's to cover the costs, government's should lock stock trading until the crisis is over to prevent run's and on stock and the crash this may cause and for the duration of the crisis company's should be forbidden from laying off staff with government's being forced to cover lost wages if necessary so that while there may be an increase in national debt company's would simply be frozen and not overly damaged by the crisis making those job's secure until the period following it.

The problem is we - non of us - have any real leadership only moron's in charge in today's idiocracy of a world.

Right now it's a mess at places like O'Hare.

The pictures and videos show travelers shoulder to shoulder in extremely long "lines".

Not sure if this is more due to lack of preparation, or a sudden rush of travelers filling up flights after hearing about this yesterday.

I'm not throwing shade on anyone, as these types of things have a lot of moving parts.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

At the end of the day, these kinds of things happen. It's 2020, and people want to think that we've made it to some sort of higher state where we can control everything. We can't. At the end of the day, we all have to be able to take care of ourselves and plan for things that are unforseen. The government has a hard enough time not hemorrhaging money on barely functioning programs as it is, any new ones are likely to fail.

I think people have gotten spoiled to the point where they won't tolerate inconveniences in their lives. I just hope everyone can learn from this with a virus that isn't as serious as other's we've seen that weren't as easily transmittable.
