Well I've been quite impressed with pm Boris Johnson and both his medical advisers .
Despite the criticism by some of the public , they seem to have an informed plan centred on timing against c19 , which makes sense : it's fast therefore we LL be faster .

But , what's really bothering me is
1 when is the lockdown going to start
2 when is it going to end
3 will we be told in advance not to travel to other parts of the country or is it such a drastic plan that the public won't be told before it's announced ?

Getting the virus , well that's not so bad , obviously it won't be welcome .

But , getting locked down in the wrong spot , that's a bugbear I don't want. It's causing some discomfort.

Can anyone answer these questions please

Were being told mass gatherings will be banned for next weekend , but I don't care about that . I just don't want sudden lines drawn which can't be crossed easily . Don't mind staying in , just not in the wrong place . Thanks in advance .

Breaking news , Spain will going into full lockdown on Monday . That's a relief to know the Spaniards have been informed first.
Thanks

1 when is the lockdown going to start

Not sure we'll have a lock down as such , they'll move to protect the vulnerable but the rest of the herd will be left to gain Herd immunity , 60% of us need to catch the virus to protect us in the future.

I have two coworkers who have likely had the virus , they weren't tested but going by the reported symptoms it's highly likely that is what they had ... just waiting for my turn now.

1) at 8 AM
2) at 8 AM
3) Why even await the announcement just get to the place you want as that's your intention anyway.

Tough choice. Can't you work from 'home'? Or self-quarantine for 2 weeks as you're 'coughing'.

I must say I hate skipping out of duties so do not read it like that. Not at all. But special times ask for special moves.

I have made sure for years that I can work from where ever I am. I just informed my boss that I'm working from a different time zone. But I do understand that not many can create such a career for them.

Best of British gortex : see it off

I like the herd immunity idea , seems a natural way forward which would have occurred before in historical pandemic events .

They have to stop that wave though , so a shutdown will probably happen .

They're now saying on BBC news it's 'reportedly' going to be on Monday in Spain .

Let me tell you one thing from personal experience. Your pm can hold a press conference tonight and tell you that everything is shutting down. My advice, be proactive don't wait for it to happen.
Im glad I was proactive so I didn't have to rush to the store to buy groceries when everyone did.
You won't starve, there's plenty of food around. But enough food so you can get by for a week or two. Again, not because you're going to starve but because you might catch the disease when hordes of people start panic shopping.
I also predicted that I would have to work from home in the next couple of weeks so I bought a computer screen and me and my wife already made plans how to tackle this new situation.
Be proactive, that's the best you can do. If you have children in daycare, than make plans for if some of your family members can take care of them while you work because they will shut down day care too.

I wonder what the hell people are going to eat while they're confined to their homes?

Supplies aren't a problem particularly could just do with another week to mitigate fatigue when it arrives . I know you're right though hence the thread , and they won't want people rushing around . Spain got to 5000 confirmed , UK is at 1000 or so .

I'm glad I deliver pizza for a living. Washing hands and handling food is part of the job.
The panic buying is laughable and the solution from the start was to disallow people travelling between Europe/China!

I have a feeling a lot of people in the UK will ignore the lockdown anyway. Give it a week or 2. Shops might close but it won't stop people gathering in places.

Online supermarkets will deliver the food to your door. And if it gets really bad than I can imagine military delivering food to people. That's what my government is planning for.

It's happening soon. They have learned a lesson from Italy so your government won't sit around and wait for the number of infected to reach 10.000 before they shut down the society. I dislike your PM but I dont think he is stupid.

This will not work for diabetics. In fact most inexpensive food is out for diabetics. You could probably live on rice, beans and potatoes with a normal metabolism. I'd hate to see what 2 months of that would do to a diabetic.

Sky reporting 1140 confirmed UK cases , I believe there are probably many thousands of unconfirmed cases.

Yes. This is more than likely the case in the US as well. I would bet there are at least a million unconfirmed cases in the US. They left international airports more or less in full swing for 2 months while this was brewing. That cannot be good.

Lines have been drawn. You're late to the party. Prepare for you and yours...and pets...to be without food...which once gone, won't be replaced anytime soon thereafter.
