i try to follow the instructions as best i can, on the one hand not to overload our health system and on the other hand to protect our elderly fellow human beings. in any case, i trust the specialists, doctors and scientists and not the conspiracy theorists.

So in your eyes, no one is lying, or at least deliberately obfuscating the facts/truth.

I can get on board with that, were it not for the ChiComs. I think the thing that is standing out to me is the deliberate nature of the media to over sensationalize, yet no real speculation on what happened in China. I mean, any real conversation is dismissed as racist, or a lie to harm them. Can't we accept that a country that lies about T. Square and concentration camps, a country who's government that depends on it's authoritarian roots, is hiding something?

I don't want there to be something wrong, I just don't trust China.

People are stocking toilet paper, are they crazy, wait and watch as food might become scarce, this is a real possibility. panicking is real, it’s started, it could get worse.
The government does not want panic

This is typical media, government mind control
Simple
Release a true statement of the emergency, shrouded in grey, causing fear and concern
Deny that statement immediately as a blow up, silly media panic and calm the population with confidence, promises, with denials and ease the populations fears
Allow the emergency to run it’s course and let the population know the truth

Effectively, “truth, lie and reveal” has been used for centuries
It gets the population comfortable with the truth

I just don’t understand the toilet paper panic, how was that manufactured.

I just realized you are in VA, Silly... So not too far from me I will be very interested to see if they cut off the South (or if the South cuts off the North) in our neck of the woods. My guess is, if it happens, it's in the next few weeks.

It's all interesting to me, because I know that many people want the Zombie apocalypse- Survivalists who are annoyed at grazers, Earth First! people who think we need to thin the herd, Doom porn-stars who think they will thrive after, or simply people who want a reset.... I think there is a weird confluence of people "rooting" for this virus.

I read some of it, but it seems like the news/noise has died out there... Anything new? All my news comes from Italy. My friends in Korea said that they are preparing for the inevitable "real wave" that will hit in a month.

The Government uses 'plausable deniability' where the media fabricates outright fictional innuendo. You know, like throwing spagetti noodles at the wall to see if...... NO MYSTERY.

"Tank" is a subjective term.

One should say, "I hope the economy doesn't "tank" any farther. It is tanking at the moment and has been for a week or more.

I really hope that this all balances out in the short term. But I feel we are probably in for a ricky ride.

I don't trust the media, they like to stir the pot. They are also to opinionated. I don't believe they base a lot on facts but more on feeling. They are very manipulative.

Hell the government just flat out lies. They are basically faking it until they make it and have been doing this for years on end. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

Well- I can't say that I disagree with you. I trust the media far less than I trust anyone. Even the government. At least the government has some semblance of being able to be overturned. Unfortunately, the media is eager to sell underpants, and has no incentive to be the quietest person in the room.

I believe the economy is tanking on oil futures, combined with the unknown surrounding the virus (cancelations, etc.).

I also believe that a lot of people are going to be very hurt by this virus, even if it is just economically. That said, with the right leadership, the U.S. economy could come out even rosier on the other side.

I've always said- if we had a media company turn around and only print the facts, then it would be the most popular site in the U.S. That said, facts are often subjective, and we as consumers rarely reward good deeds.

Kind of like Don Henley's Dirty Laundry.....
