Hey there! Fun little interview on the JRE with an expert on the situation at hand.

Michael Osterholm is an internationally recognized expert in disease epidemiology. He's the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy.

Key points from the interview:

- His predictions via CIDRAP have been almost spot on to date
- It's much worse than we think and it's just getting started
- We're in this for 6-9 more months and they've estimated 90 Million infected and half a million dead
- This could likely be 10 times worse than the flu
- Transmissible during incubation period which is about 4 days (I've seen other numbers higher)
- Primarily deadly for old people and the immunocompromised but now seeing deaths, that age is creeping downwards
- Obesity and smoking (along with other conditions associated with obesity) are some underlying conditions increasing risk of death
- Kids aren't getting sick
- Primary transmission is respiratory and there isn't much evidence that transmission via touching from a surface to your face is actually happening
- SARS and MERS, both coronaviruses, flourished during hotter weather

The biggest point that I took from this was that this is likely bigger than we think because it's transmissible during incubation.

HERE is a link to Joe Rogan Clips with the interview sectioned out. I like this site becasue of the way it segments Joe's interviews, great bookmark!

As for the interview, yes it is revealing and the most sensible and informative piece on this topic I have seen, highly recommended. This virus is not just a threat to the elderly, it also triggers auto-immune systems in healthy people, which can cause problems in addition to virus itself. Micheal says vaccines are years away becasue of effectiveness and testing for safety. After watching this, and the exponential potential occurring, I am convinced this will indeed become a crisis situation.
Micheal also touches on Lyme Disease, which is interesting too.

It's good to see more experts talking about reality.

I just read about a doctor treating Italian patients saying he is sick of people saying this is the flu.

I hate to say it, but I think it will take someone very high level in the US to die for people to take it seriously.

I think it's because if they get quarantined for 14 days in their house, they want to be able to wipe their butt.

I still think its dumb.

Because they are afraid of the stores closing down or the possibility that they won't want to go to the store.

Nobody wants to go without butt wipe....

I'm almost finished watching this video.

Now not only am I more paranoid of coronavirus, but equally scared of deer, mice, and camels,

The video is long but I totally recommend it.

Made no difference in the outcome of sick people.

Joe asked about taking probiotics after antibiotics.
The expert said there might be a short term boost
but he said the data just doesn't support it

No, not at all.
If anything it is intelligent, informative and disproves a lot of myths.
The guy Joe interviews is Michael Osterholm is a "medical detective" that tracks infectious diseases.
His take on several diseases, causes and preventative measures are a breath of fresh air.
It is very easy to watch.

Can't poop if you don't have food first. I haven't heard of any food shortages. TP is one of the last things I would buy if I knew stores were closing down

One square???
I went out for Mexican food recently. Lots of very hot stuff, four beers and two shots of
tequila. The next morning I went through damn near two entire rolls of TP!
