TORONTO -- A woman in B.C. has tested positive for COVID-19 despite not having travelled recently and having no known contact with anyone infected with the virus.

Until now, all cases in Canada involved individuals who had recently travelled to countries such as Iran, Italy, Egypt and China or who had close contact with those travellers.

I'm sure she'll apologize profusely to her fellow citizens now that the panic has arrived in Canada.

Not many take into account migrants that may be coming in illegally...yet another reason to hire a thousand more people to screen properly and in some cases expedite those who are legitimately in danger...but both left and right ignore this option..

Indeed. I'm now wondering the same about you quite frankly. Don't like a joke so you get all nasty and insulting? Not cool. I get that your false sense of security has been shattered, but your personal crisis doesn't excuse that crap. Putting your faith in government never ends well. Government cannot protect you from Mother Nature... Mother Nature is not a respecter of persons... we're all fair game... and the moment we were born our deaths became a certainty.

I found it quite relevant and appreciated the humor... albeit rather dark humor. But tis a dark situation, eh? I sure don't appreciate your insults and personal attacks.

And FYI -- No one here takes their posting orders from you. Folks will post as they so choose.

I can't wait until this flavor of the month(s) has finally run it's course.

Honestly it's getting quite obnoxious.

I'm anticipating A LOT of free donuts and coffee as an atonement from the poor travellers who infected our country with this. Sorry to them.

Very true, Us Canadians do like to apologize.

It's like a apology contest up here, each person trying to be more sorry then the next.
"Oh I'm sorry, I was thinking about walking and I might had accidentally bumped into you, so I'm Very sorry."
"No, I'm sorry for not realizing that someone might had accidentally walked in front of me, so I'm more sorry."
"Please, accept my apology, I'm more sorry."

It will go on like that for about 8 or 9 turns until someone Eventually says something like, "well, my cousin had a bad dream one day, so I'm sorry if that dream Consisted of anything that would had caused offence to anyone."

It usually goes on like that for the better part of the morning. Both people usually end up fired from their job...
But get hired right away again because their boss is sorry.

Well, to add some fuel to the fire, looks like pets can be infected now too. There's no way they can screen every animal....hell, they're having a hard enough time screening people.

Only way it could be worse is if your snow machines get it too.

a very good point. especially since it is known many Chinese, from the worst effected areas have been working to escape to other countries. like the TWO plane loads that coincidentally charted those aircraft and left Wuhan, taking off just before the airports there were closed down. which of course went to one of the smaller areas of the Philippines hoping no one would notice. luckily they were caught and the several hundred Chinese shipped right back.

now those would not be everyday people. they needed money and power to do so. money and power to charter the aircraft, at pretty much the last second. but they also needed some pretty good political connections to even know that the lockdown was coming, and ability to get out just before it went into effect. and if they can pull something like that off at such a scale. how many have used other means to escape and head to pretty much any country they could arrange to go to? and with money available, it's actually a lot easier to be an illegal alien somewhere. you don't need to work, so that is one risk they don't have to take. they can afford housing wherever they want. and could even easily pay for good fake documents.

and then there are the average people also trying to escape any way they can, just like the millions of other illegal immigrants.

A little Tim's goes a long way when you're being contrite.

On topic of Tims ( Tim Hortons), it’s about time they stopped allowing people to bring their own cups in to fill up, because Starbucks started it the other day. I was in complete disbelief a few years ago when this grubby man put his filthy travel cup on the counter for a refill. Some people never wash their cups! I watched her pour hot steaming coffee into it and it splashing back up into the pot, steaming back up as well. She then proceeded to pour me a fresh cup from that pot. I said no way , I want a fresh pot of coffee, that's very unsanitary. That's always been their gimmick, when they started out years ago. The shops were on main travel routes for truckers to come in with their cups, thermos’ etc. There were hardly any paper cups back then.

You’re not allowed to bring your dirty plate up to the Buffet table in a restaurant.

Huh, that's pretty effing gross even in non-virus panic times. I wouldn't let anyone bring in a cup. What's next, brining your own flatware?
