It is not called an empire but transcends every earthly realm and Infolurker has called it first, the ETERNAL kingdom of Christ.
That said on a more earthly level taken from KNOWN history - let's be fair there may have been one before the last ice age if some theory's and
beliefs are taken into account but let's just stick to known history.
First the British Empire, it sucked to be working class, or in the first hundred or so years of it were you could be EXPORTED for looking at someone
the wrong way BUT as empires over the past two thousand years go it was the best, the most human (And no empire is ever truly humane) and the most
progressive that gave rise to the modern world.
Second the American Empire (I know it is not called that but) at one period in time, only that period the 1950's up to the start of the Vietnam war
was a period of unprecedented prosperity and during that period America for the vast majority of it's people was perhaps the best place to live on
earth with a ready supply of job's, decent wage to cost of living and decent home's for the people that worked, before that America as probably at
it's best in the very early 1900's before the depression.
Thirdly while not called an empire the very early period of human civilization in the fertile crescent and ancient Egypt both had many things in
there favour though they also had a great many other's against that so middle of the road ancient biblical Israel, Not an empire, not a place renowned
for being peaceful but a place were humanitarianism, decency toward other's, valuing human life, ending human sacrifice made it more decent by far
than many civilization that came and went over it.
Of worthy note the Hindu cultures are ignored mostly because I am western centric but I believe at least some of them were an equal to these in all
the above values, humanitarianism, education and personal attainment, ancient India before the cast system or during time's when the cast system was
over thrown may have also been worthy of mention, people love structure but the cast system is in every way a system of enslavement and even today it
damn's people to live and work only in certain roles in even modern Indian society - except for this ancient India has it's many merit's.
But actually the modern world is perhaps better than all of these even if we find ourselves in an age of social decay, tradition's and beliefs being
lost because of secular influence and political corruption, still our modern rulers in the west at least are a lot better than most of the ancient
one's were.
BUT as Inforlurker point's out As a Christian I believe myself to already be a member of a kingdom greater than any empire - even if perhaps not a
notable member - what is more a Kingdom that while it not a democracy is ruled by a flawless ruler that cares more than any democratically elected
person ever did for those under them even to the point of making them king's in his own kingdom were the most true expression of freedom can be found,
not freedom to do harm or be evil but freedom from sorrow, pain, despair, hopelessness, hunger and thirst and from slavery as well as freedom from the
one enemy that no earthly kingdom can ever defeat death itself - you may 'choose' to sleep but will never truly be dead. - or to quote a passage from
the bible.
And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and
true.” 6And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of
the water of life. 7The one who overcomes will inherit all things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son.
