Social Security is running dry, in 2018 the amount paid out in social security exceeded the amount put in. So even the US is facing a problem of too many elderly supported by too few young people.

There is an elderly crises in all first world countries, and it is severe in China and Japan. Europe is close behind since their birth replacement rate dropped well below replacement level before the US did. But there isn't a developed, industrialized country on the planet that is producing children at replacement level. It is forecast that if the low birth rate around the world continues on its current trajectory, that within 30-50 years worldwide we will see a reversal of the overpopulation trend and move into negative birth rates world wide.

People worldwide living longer, and the birth rate dropping worldwide within approx. 30 years, will mean a substantial growth in the elderly population worldwide with too few young people to support and care for them.

This is a global problem, that will grow.

(Tin foil hat time): It is a virus developed as a bio-weapon, not aimed to destroy a nation, but to mainly kill the elderly which would be considered beneficial if one has socialist or communist ideology.
(The elderly are a non-productive drain on society - so they are not only expendable, but to save the society as a whole - getting rid of them would be a societal net gain and good for society and economies world wide.) Socialism and communism value the society and economy over the individual, especially the non-productive individual.


Which is why the "free" healthcare in Europe greatly limits the curative care elderly are able to obtain. Check it out for yourself. The elderly in those nations get great palliative care (pain relief) while being denied curative care (being cured). Many communist societies (an extension of socialism) are not shy about genocide when they feel a group of people are hurting society more than helping it. This is well documented.

So it is plausible that China specifically designed a bio-weapon directed not to win a war, but to genocide the elderly, while not appearing to be actually going around killing their elderly since they have become an extreme problem for their society and nation.

The Iranian Health Ministry recorded 523 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's known total to 1,501. They mark a 53 percent increase since the day before. Mohammad Mirmohammadi, 71, was an Expediency Council member who advised Khamenei and settled disputes between him and parliament. COVID-19 has already infected Iran's vice president and deputy health minister.

Since most of the radical Islamic leaders are elderly, this may actually work to free Iran from the grip of the ultra-conservative leaders who are intent on keeping their country in the 14th century.
