Unless, the 3.4% is mainly the elderly and infirm. The entire "first" world countries now has a problem with the extremely low birth rates and the percentage of elderly supported by "social security/programs" is beginning to overwhelm social resources. Coronavirus is understood to have likely originated in bats and jumped to something else prior to transmission to humans. If that "something else" was a pangolin (something which some people believe) then that's divine justice because the Chinese demand for these cute animals is driving the species to extinction.

Just an aside:

The old and infirm are growing percentage wise in the population. They could well be justifiably considered enemies of the state in China. Let me explain.

Especially in China, as I said before, the typical married couple in China is now responsible for 4 other adults as well as themselves and their children. The typical male who is unable to find a wife due to the massive female infanticide is responsible for caring for his parents without any other person to help.

This is becoming a crises in China, which is one of the reasons for changing the one child policy to the 2 child policy.

In all first world countries the replacement birth rate has plummeted far below replacement rate.

Making the growing number of elderly relying on promised social services and financial support.
There are fewer working age adults paying into the socialist systems of Europe and Social Security/Medicare in the US.

So if one holds the view that unproductive citizens are a burden on the society and risk collapse of social services due to their ever increasing number - then they become in effect a problem to be solved.

Seems this virus could be seen as a partial solution.

Socialist/communist countries have no compunction in getting rid of burdens to society as the elite political class see them as a danger to their economy. For example Mao bragged about killing 700,000 people who simply did not believe in communism. Also, in China, pregnant women who already had a child were dragged kicking and screaming at even very late term into abortion clinics to rid the country of excess people. Would not a system that thinks that it is ok to get rid of excess individuals (especially unproductive individuals who suck social resources)?

Really, as far as socialism is concerned too, unproductive burdensome people sucking up social resources, should be exterminated for the greater good of society and to save social resources for the productive citizens. We see this in Europe where the elderly are routinely denied curative care in favor of making them comfortable while they die (palliative care.) If you don't believe it, do a little search, it is easy to find this is happening now in countries with socialist health care for all.

Already, many of my friends are hearing over and over - "You are too old to for this surgery/treatment". We will give you pain meds instead. This is happening routinely to the over 70's in my "church family" who are otherwise fairly healthy. They are all on the social resource of Medicare which is basically a socialist program and run the way socialist countries run their healthcare systems.

So while you may think the elderly and infirm are not enemies of the state, I'm afraid that there are many socialists and communists who would disagree with you.

The US is not as badly affected as China who caused their own problems through forced abortion and the one child policy. The elderly population is around 14% of the USA population.

So don't rule out that a country that values the "greater good of society" over humanity would not find their elderly to be a problem that needs a solution and genocide would be acceptable to a country that has already used genocide to get rid of societal problems.

Even the US is showing signs of accepting the genocide of healthy but unproductive citizens.
We saw this in the recent rejection of the "born alive" bill, that would force Doctors to give health care to babies born alive after a failed abortion. We saw this in Virginia when the Governor said it was perfectly ok to place a newborn on a cold hard surface and left to die if the uterus holder decided during labor the child was unwanted. So this is the official policy of the US now, if a baby is born alive and the uterus owner rejects the newborn before expelling it, it can be legally left alone, naked and cold to die on a cold hard surface. If this is how the US officially treats it's most helpless citizens, Think man Think, many if not most of the elderly eventually become helpless.

It does, it's mutations aren't perfect enough for a bio weapon and they look like something that was bred over and over again in vitro then exposed to an immune response in vivo and back and forth. It's recombination was before it got to the lab and it's spike protein may have been altered prior to the experiments but they can't tell.

Most of it is natural with some targeted experiments, breeding and modifications specifically for ACE2 in an animal with similar receptors to ours, it was definitely being tailored to us for something, just missing a few things to make it more effective.

With their history, vaccine or laboratory study is a solid guess.
