Full disclosure I wasn't only a spectator back then. Started my first band in 1980. Here's a gawdawful sounding clip of us in '85 kicking off the
annual Bar-to-Bar Christmas Run (yes they used to run to all the bars in town, have a drink, sing a Christmas carol then run to the next. At 7 a.m. on
Sunday). The event lasted several years until liability lawyers and lawsuits killed it.
I had an affinity towards simple, fast music like The Ventures.
My mind was blown by the Ramones. Then I looked around at was happening...
Fear - Let’s Have a War
Circle Jerks - Coup d’Etat
Those were featured on the Repoman soundtrack. But I also listened to Black Flag, The DKs, X, some new wave bands like Talking Heads, and some skinny
kids from Ireland.
We were about the same age and I went on to find things like Social Distortion and Violent Femmes.

I saw the addicts like 10 years ago. They played with the misfits, the Uk subs, and Osaka pop stars. It was a great show. When the addicts did their
set was was at the bar watching. And it was something to see beach balls bouncing of people’s Mohawks. Would love to see them again.
Back in the day, Trouser Press Magazine was the only rag that covered the international punk scene. I couldn't
wait for each month's issue to show up. They even came with a flexi-45 single included.
They also published a punk rock record guide which is an incredible collection of music from that time. If you can find it I highly recommend grabbing
it!
