A Question About the Ignore and the Vote Feature on Many Mini-Profiles

I notice that on many of the Mini-Profiles, near the bottom is something like, ignore this member and vote for this member. both have a link to "info" next to them. The info is the same on both of the choices. It's just the forum etiquette.

I think I know what the "ignore" is. Isn't it when you don't like a particular person (poster, member, etc...) for some reason, and don't want to see their posts on your monitor anymore?

I don't understand the vote, however. Are we supposed to be voting on the person's etiquette in the forums? I don't quite get it.

One more question: why do some members have that feature on their Mini-Profiles, and some don't. If a person gets enough votes, what do they win, if anything? And if one gets "ignored" too many times, are they penalized?

I don't have that on mine, and I don't know if I want it or not, and if I do, how do I get it?

You do, you just can't ignore or vote for yourself.

You've got the concept of ignore down though, except there's no tally or penalty. Stricty at your disposal.

As for voting, it's toward the monthly and annual WATS award. Sometimes TWATS.

The Way Above Top secret Award for quality posting and research above the fray. It's 100% member driven. Strictly at your disposal. 3 votes per month, and you can't vote for mods.

If you like the quality of the post or approve greatly of the overall expression of a particular poster, the vote button is your way of expressing it. It is a recognition and a cool motivator to quality posts........the member with the most posts every month gets a virtual badge and a lightening of the color of their background to bring attention to them......

And if you didn't know, we mods can't vote...*sigh*, but it's to ensure that one isn't getting mod favoritism, etc.

Remember to use your 3 votes people!!!

Thanks guys, I think I get the concept now. (I didn't know that I do have those features on my mini-profile on everyone else's monitors - interesting!)

I just have one other question regarding this subject: when someone votes for, or ignores another memeber, does that member know that they have been ignored or voted for? And if so, do they know who did it?

You'll know when you're posting and posting and they act as if you dont exist.

I dont like the ignore button. I like to read it all, foolish and otherwise.
