We still grow citrus, so long as the grocery chain is unimpacted that should be a source.

My closest citrus tree is a few thousand kms away. They don’t tend to grow well in snow. It’s the impact to the chain that I am exactly worried about.

The official numbers come from China every day. You quote them everyday. As if it's fact, furthermore patronizing other members. It's like saying "neener neener I'm right, this thing is dying out and yall are idiots!" And it's immature. Prove me wrong.

We don't have any other source of information about cases in China, everybody else is just guessing or shooting random numbers off the top of their head. The higher the number the more retweets/likes/comments or generally, CLICKS and attention it gets. The vast majority of my comments about the numbers were regarding the chart and IMO how it is not an exponential increase. The comments I made were mostly -not completely and not all of them- addressing those stating otherwise, regardless of the ACTUAL numbers. /To this day we don't have any actual numbers from China and probably never in our lifetimes will we have any/
Some of my comments were dismissing the claims made by Triton and his fear-mongering posse striving to post the most shocking, horrifying news without even bothering to spend 30 seconds trying to verify the claim, especially the made-up claims about the lockdowns and quarantines going on in China. Such claims would have been confirmed a long time ago by the Western media most of you are so very keen on.

I'd like to add that I don't believe Chinese government more than any other government in the world. They all lie, it's their job to do so. Government and "officials" and agencies like WHO are no more than a charade, a banquet, a carnival.
All they care about is power and money. And after all, they will do everything for the corporations that finance them, in order to maximise their profits, regardless of social and environmental cost.

It's not just a "few" people saying be cautious, ...it's members who rarely ever post saying this is "the apocalypse"!! Thousands upon thousands of posts. Just look at Volume 1, and now Volume 2...NEVER has anything on ATS garnered so much hype, paranoia and attention! Not EVER!!

If the WHO is supposed to have contingencies in place, doesn’t it beg the question with flights and ships at sea ALL the time they would have their own designated airbases and ports for this type of thing?

Or is that too forward thinking?

If it operates like other seasonal stuff, you won't ever be totally immune to it, no. You don't get immune to the flu or the cold either. That's why we keep getting them. They change and we don't hold on to the antibodies for any one strain for very long in most cases.

But we do get what's called a resistance or a partial immunity. Our immune system sees most strains of flu and rhinovirus and corona virus that circulate every year and sort of says ... "Oh yeah, I remember you ..." And it doesn't freak out but it makes something that come close to helping us beat it so we don't get as sick. This one is completely new, and our immune system will go all hands on deck with it and because we don't have the right antibodies because our systems have never seen anything like it, we get completely sick at the same time.

You know how miserable you can get when you explode with allergies? It does that x10 only in the disease/microorganism fighting mode. Then you add in what the virus is doing to make you sick at the same time. It literally can kill you between them both and that's why you see young and otherwise healthy people dying. For older folks, it's their poor health and the disease like always.

If you were preparing for everything the way you prepare for this outbreak you would end up living your life in a constant fear, spending your time preparing for everything and events that probably won't even occur and totally missing the point of life; and that is to be alive right here right now.
Ever heard of Carpe Diem, live today for tomorrow we die? You see, only people who aren't living are scared of everything, scared of death. Those who live fully are prepared to die at any time.

Again, don't twist my words, I'm not saying buying some water, stocking up basic medicine and canned food is a bad idea. Just no need to emphasise it so much or saying that everyone who isn't going to be "prepared" is a silly moron or anything along those lines.

I don't think they monitor for information. They have more than we do. They monitor to see what the overall "conspiracy" feeling is. Sometimes it's to see if we've figured out something they don't want the public to know and sometimes it's to make sure they knock down the totally out there conspiracies that could cause issues. I"ve always assumed this site is monitored regularly anyway.

So as far as the UK goes the spread should be around four weeks behind Wuhan, with the occasional cases being picked up on their symptoms. They would have infected an unknown number who will be showing symptoms in a few days, considering the density of people in these south eastern Counties, along with the use of public transport, theirs a potential for a bad outbreak.
