I would hope they just mean they are thinking about walling off and letting it burn itself out and redirecting their resources to other places.

I really hope that's what they mean because the things in my head make that the least brutal scenario.

While the US can no longer claim the moral high ground, you are talking about a ChiCom government that massacred its citizens in Tienanmen and is actively killing its citizens in Hong Kong so to quell a outbreak that could threaten its grip on power? I would not be shocked in the least.

Viruses infect specific types of cells. For this infect the epithelials of your lung tissue then your gastrointestinal tract and them somehow hit your bone marrow and then migrate to your testicles would involve it infecting several very, very different types of cells from very different body systems. Just not possible for one virus to do.

Nothing has happened in Chile, yet, this is a "just in case" measurement.

The government of Chile has declared a health alert just in case something happens. My guess is they did this before an outbreak happens or the virus gets here so not to waste time doing bureaucracy.

(rant)Also I am 100% sure they did this to try and control the next civil unrest expected in March, we think that it (the next civil unrest) will probably be worse than what happened in October-Novemeber. Anyways, back to topic. There are still no cases confirmed here, I think there were a few suspected cases, but were tested negative. Anyways here is a rough translation of the news article ( Health Alert ):

The government in Chile has declared a Health Alert. It will provide faculties to the ministry of health to deny entrance into the country of people that do not reside in Chile, are suspect or have the Coronavirus. The health authorities will have the power to order the isolation of any person suspected to have the virus or that are tested positive. They will also be able to locate the close contacts of the patient in order to observe them. This will last a maximum of 14 days.

The ministry of Health will also have the power to suspend massive events or any type of public gathering, be them in open or closed spaces. They will also be able to suspend school or any type of work places where people could get infected.

To this extent, the ministry of health will be able to call the police to enforce the measures they deem necessary.

Also it is established that, if needed, they will count with the financing to hire extra employees, even students that haven’t finish med school (6+ years of med school minimum). The Hospitals will be able to cancel appointments and surgeries that aren’t urgent in case there are to many Coronavirus emergencies.

Well, without opening-the-great-math-debate, keep this in mind:
1) "Official" numbers - and conspiracy-theory is that China is under-reporting theirs (maybe other countries too).
2) Many people may have it with no symptoms or diagnosis or testing yet.
3) Many countries are not reporting at all (may also not be testing at all).
4) ... I forget, ooops.

Are you implying it’s multiple viruses, or like it’s asymptomatic transmission, it’s just nothing we’ve seen/dealt with before.

Because if memory serves in thes 500 pages between 2 threads now, somewhere Drs. (plural) in China are baffled and frustrated that the “recovered” have really low blood- oxygen levels, and unexplainable corporeal damage that AlSO is highly unusual.

What gives? Anyone else recall these mysterious lifelong awful condition “recoveries”???

One of those recoveries also gave an interview that described how he was treated.

Those doctors threw everything they had and more at him trying to make anything stick. Sometimes, the cure can be worse than the disease.

I swear I've read almost every page since this started but I haven't read this. Is there somewhere you read that the recovered have low blood oxygen levels and corporeal damage???? Or was that just a theory somewhere in this insanely long thread?
