I can't even get Staph Aureus to stay alive for more than a few days without nutrients in a sterile buffer sometimes.

21 days on a carrier? I doubt it...

Eboli survived 11 days on plastic and 14 days on Tyvek, the material used in protective suits. www.mdmag.com...
And this provided by ButcherGuy's link..."coronaviruses on stainless steel. At 4°C, infectious virus persisted for as long as 28 days, and the lowest level of inactivation occurred at 20% RH. Inactivation was more rapid at 20°C than at 4°C at all humidity levels; the viruses persisted for 5 to 28 days " www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...

HIV has nothing to do with it, many viruses share binding and genetic insertion techniques. 2 coronavirus strains shared genetic material in an animal host creating a novel or new coronavirus. Then it jumped to poultry, a snake, or other animal and jumped to humans between September and December, most likely early November.

Good morning all my friends here on Above Top Secret. (Tokyo time 8:20 am 2-7-2020 ) I've just got a big "Applause" from one of the moderators here on the forum. Thank you moderator. Although it wasn't necessary, I just enjoy being part of ATS and sharing what little I know or find out on about this thread.
I want to thank every one that is pitching in on the Corona Virus threads. I know we have an international crowd here and we get to have minute by minute updates on this situation that truly is affecting how peoples lives are at the present time. I really feel by reading most threads ( currently I'm behind on them, so please excuse me if you see double post) that this ATS is the most reliable to even get your neighborhood news on. I sincerely mean this. And this is someone that lives an ocean away from my youth.
As mention in my post, I won't post "rumors or BS" about this current situation now facing uncertainty on a "WORLDWIDE SCALE". As we all know now, many travel bans are in place and there is a very good reason.
Japan , a few hours ago refused the cruise liner from Hong Kong to port here in Japan. Common sense is setting in. I really strongly urge anyone to support their govt. when you see they are using common sense to protect their citizens. If not, well... I don't actually have the right words to say at the moment since I leave anger out of my heart.

I mentioned on a thread about them masks everyone is panicking to buy on a worldwide scale. Please consult with someone in the medical field about them. I have left something out in my post about them and there is a reason why.
Its a known fact that these mask are made for the spring pollen in the air and those that have colds and other ailments .

Also according to the specialist, the particles (sorry, don't know the word) that are air borne land on surfaces everywhere.
That is a fact. Those infected and with a couigh , their spray goes out to 3 meters , that is like 10 feet. That can cover a lot of space.

Public toilets. I let those that know about body to body transmissions chime in on this one, but for all seriousness, never mind, I want to say away from this subject. (but the cruise ships is what really brought my attention to this subject)

This is most import.
Please wash your hands for 20 minutes after returning from outside
Please wear one of them mask if you have a cold

2-7-2020 I don't have this mornings update for Japan or any other breaking news as of now. But will post later.

Please keep in mind regardless of what you know or find out is that: China is still in the greatest threat stage (outbreak ) at this time. SO PLEASE DON'T PANIC

Should you prepare them cupboards? These are personal questions you SHOULD be asking yourself. I say this because of the long lines of people here trying to buy face mask, only to find out "sold out". The thing is, you can't eat or drink them, but for the most part, yes, you can wash them and reuse if necessary.

This country is NOT in panic mode at all. Which is nice. There are travel advisories out and yes, plane routes to and from areas are being cancelled.

Here are my links for those that haven't read them.

I mostly report what is happening in Japan.
See ya all soon with hopefully some good news.

Also if you live overseas, sign up with your Embassies email. Sorry, I forgot the name of what their email notices are called.

Here is there latest on the Corona Virus

Health Alert - U.S. Embassy Tokyo, Japan (January 23, 2020)

Location: East Asia (China)

Event: Coronavirus Outbreak in China

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan, China.

A number of countries, including the United States, have been actively screening incoming travelers from Wuhan and human infections with 2019-nCoV have been confirmed in Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea. The United States announced its first infection with 2019-nCoV detected in a traveler returning from Wuhan on January 21, 2020.

For information and guidance regarding this disease outbreak, U.S. citizens in Japan are advised to consult the World Health Organization (WHO) and CDC websites. Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare is also closely monitoring the situation. The WHO provides country-specific disease outbreak news, including information about Japan.

Actions to Take: CDC recommendations include frequent thorough hand washing and cough etiquette (maintain distance, cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing, and wash hands).

Additionally, ensure you have had an influenza immunization this season to minimize the chances of getting flu that may mimic coronavirus infection.

For the most up-to-date information, please consult the CDC website (www.cdc.gov...).

Why 20 minutes? Surgeons don’t even do that, we don’t even do that for biosafety or bio containment work. You’ll just increase chances of other secondary infections or create microabrasions in your hands that increase the chances of infection.

Most soaps emulsify and surround dirt and other undesirables so they fall off the skin and nails, some have antimicrobial agents that help to breach envelopes or cell walls. This will happen in seconds or minutes at the most.

I saw on the news where it takes time to clean under the fingernails. Perhaps that is the reason. They also said its a place where the virus can hide there.
Hopes this helps out a bit.

They do, cut your nails and it only takes a quick scrub, rinse with your fingers pointing down so you don’t contaminate your wrist or arms. Wrists are a huge concern in my line of work for contamination. Doctors hold their hands up and all weird because they have special rules for maintaining the sterile field during procedures and they wash much further up the arm to prevent contamination through layering of PPE.

I want to tell you all one thing that has not shown up in international news as a concern.

A man was isolated in South Africa as the first suspected case in South Africa. None of the articles about this mention exactly how long he was held or how many times he was tested. The only factual information we have is that he was tested for one day only, and then discharged the next day. The South African hospital did not observe any standard procedure. They held the man for what was likely 3-4 days, tested him for one day, and then let him go. Completely ignoring the recommended practice of 14 day minimum isolation. This is absurd to me. I honestly cannot believe they would do this after everything we've learned.

m.news24.com...

I live in South Africa and I can tell you that if this virus takes hold here, especially in rural townships where massive amounts of people live packed together with very poor hygiene and healthcare in some of the worst townships, this virus will explode here at an incredible rate I'm sure. The lower income citizens use minibus taxis to travel. Where 20+ people are forced into a 14 or 16 seater vehicle. There is constant shortage of electricity and water. The townships are akin to the worst Brazilian favelas. Our medical industry is pretty much in shambles on the state level, where going to a public hospital is dreaded by all. We pretty much have the perfect melting pot of bad factors here for this thing to take over, and our medical personnel aren't taking at seriously at all. Ridiculous.

Then there is also the other 2 suspected cases in KZN province now. Which I'm willing to bet will be "extensively" screened and tested and then sent back into the public in 2 days.

Third world countries like mine would get mauled by this virus.

I'm having you for breakfast doomsayers.

Tomorrow we go below 10% in daily increase, but yeah this is definitely an unprecedented parabolic increase.

Tower blocks are having their door welded shut now

People are dying en mass inside

These numbers aren’t being recorded

They’re taking people of the streets alive, and putting them in boxes to quarantine then driving off with them

Mass fires are being reported again, at night, they look like mass cremations as they look like field fires on the ground, the video is from high up looking down

where?

links?

I see them earlier I’ll have to find them again ... hold on

I’ve heard worst

I’ve heard... they’re going to start lining them up and shooting them

To start shooting them makes more sense, people are quint up to get beds, shooting the worst cases would allow beds for the mild cases

That 1000 bed hospital they built looks like a morgue more than a hospital

The situation is far worst and I’m betting most world governments would like to see Wuhan nuked tbh

At this point it would save far more lives and drop the pandemic from server to moderate, China is just the country to agree and carry out that type of draconian task

No you won’t 100% certain lol

Not enough tester kits or hospital beds to rely on those figures

Are the number of infected doubling every week yet? Because that would not be good, almost like they rehearsed this thing a few months ago. Now I sound like one of their conspiracy theorists.

*yawn* I know, next month there won't be any increase = 0% because they will have used all the testkits and equipment on Earth so we won't be able to rely on those figures... and in case there is enough of everything, then CCP is lying. Right?

in case of a steady 10% increase yes
Doubling time : 70/10% = 7 time periods (days in this case)

however the % increase could be below 5% by the end of next week so... we'll find out then I guess yaooo

EDIT:
Heck, it could be 5% tomorrow
But it would mean nothing for ATS, as they just ran out of testing kits and hospital beds

CHINESE PLANES LANDING IN THE EUROPEAN UNION TODAY (Feb 8th) TO PICK UP MEDICAL SUPPLIES

I hope they packed some testing kits for them so ATS can't use this argument anymore and we can stick to "CCP is lying"

EDIT: Chinese aircrafts not yet cleared for landing in the EU, approval pending.

A plane en route Beijing-Shanghai-EU not given permission to land in Vienna, requesting to land in Bratislava. Permission not granted thus far.
