Self quarantine is great... till your lungs fill and your organs start shutting down and there are NO icu beds available ANYWHERE. You need to be intubated and treated or you drown slowly. You just screwed yourself. Sure self quarantine is great and they can give you meds by drone or bot.. but not if you need more invasive care.

If this virus was manufactured, it may not respond like a normal virus. It could be programmed to mutate and not be strictly a person to person contact, it could be spread by anything or just ride the winds of change.

Self quarantine is great... till

Until someone who doesn't gaf thinks they can evade whatever safeguards are in place, like the woman in France who hid her symptoms when she passed through the airport. There will ALWAYS be dumbasses like that.

I say the subject line a bit tongue in cheek, but as you may have heard, the 179 evacuees they sent Kalita over to go pick up in Wuhan China had the luxury of riding countless hours in a 747 cargo liner only to arrive at March AFB in CA and be told that they were going to be quarantined there for at least two weeks. Welcome home!

This action by legal order of the Department of Health and Human Services and the CDC.

Evacuees Detained under quarantine order

Are FEMA camps next?

Seems like a plausible solution...
Because, it's for your own safety!!

ETA - And no, this is not a joke!

Well if people are coming from areas where infection has occurred then sure. Its called quarantine. Is there a problem with that?

Forced detainment against one's will.

The needs of the many outweighs the wants of the few.

People like Mary Mallon, who is the early 1900's was an infected person that infected 51 people with typhoid (three members of which died). She was informed that she was a carrier, and what do you know, she got arrested because she was working as a cook at her last place of employment. She claimed that she didn't know that she could get anyone sick because she was a good person. While it was true that people didn't understand how she was infecting people, they did know that she was the one that was infecting them, and even after she was told not to work in food service due to her infecting people with typhoid she ignored that warning and went back to food service work (after changing her name first)

That's just the most famous example of how self quarantining doesn't work. Some people just refuse to accept that they can get anyone sick.

The facts are candida creates caverns in the body where other viruses incubate and your body uses medium chain triglycerides to wrap bacteria up and expel it. Those with enough money to eat fish and exercise and take hot baths buy eucalyptus oil and jog will survive... Those poor stagnant candida filled individuals are at risk.

Well we do have our new 31E MOS, Internment and Resettlement Specialist......

I’m kidding, that’s just our crazy name for a corrections officer.

It’s illegal for military to relocate and intern American citizens in FEMA camps. I thought those were for natural disasters etc. temporary housing.

We could set up field hospitals very quickly, they would have security, nothing different than you would see at a hospital and we would still be under the direction of local government and treatment protocols. Most of us would be unarmed, just in uniform.

Quarantine procedures would be decided by the CDC and the WHO. No idea how those would work.

Would you self quarantine?

With no doubt. How could I live in the next life ... thinking I killed you in this one?

I don't need to know you, to know that I love you like my very own brother.

I find it more than just a little amusing that so many people are all for forced quarantine...UNTIL those troop and personnel transport trucks start rolling down THEIR street!!

**pointing bony finger** "Them! It's THOSE guys...over there! THEY'RE the ones who are the sick ones, not me!! LOCK 'EM UP!"

First they stopped in Anchorage to go through customs, had a health check, stuck back on board and then flown to CA for quarantine. I’m kind of issued about it. There is no quarantine for the customs agents or health workers in AK.

WAit ... Aren't FEMA camps supposed to be a Democrat thing?

Why in the name of all logic and reason would you think that Trump - A Republican president - would follow a Democrat internment program?

That's like accusing Trump of offering free college to illegals.

I mean, I hate to be a dick, but...

Hundreds of people fleeing quarantine from a plague infested nation land in California - a place where people literally defecate on the sidewalks in a massive densely populated area.... the exact conditions that caused the last big plague (and probably several before it)

At some point it's just self defense.

Are you talking about US citizens coming home, or Chinese refugees?

I doubt that either would poop on the sidewalks.

Well, guess we'll see.. but has literally not happened in anyone's lifetime on this board, at least in the United States. So.. not sure what you think the precedent is. If that does start to happen, then I'll worry - but I'm less worried about that than the actual virus at this point. And I'm only somewhat concerned about that.. so far at least, we'll see how the next two weeks or so go.

You speak in hyperbole. That isn't even close to what is happening here ...Are you all for these people running around out in public spreading this thing around to everyone they see?

My money is on more than a few of those 195 people ending up testing positive for the virus. I personally don't want it.

I don't see the quarantine of these 195 individuals as being anywhere close to "FEMA level" activity.

Part of the agreement that those people made with the U.S. government prior to getting on the evacuation planes from China was voluntary quarantine when they arrived. Otherwise, they'd have been left over there. That was the deal. The 2 to 3-week inconvenience is a small price for them to pay for the good of the greater general public, and for their own safety, back here on the U.S. mainland.

It is needed even if they aren't displaying symptoms because, as you know, the disease has a 7 to 14 day incubation period and is spread before the carrier even knows they have it. That is what makes it so dangerous because, as you also know, this disease is killing people.
