The session was opened with a prayer that I thought was really, really good.

Chief Justice Roberts then led the chambers in reciting The Pledge of Allegiance.

Wow.

Just wow!

They should have them sign a written copy of the Pledge as a binding contract.

With a 20yr sentence for breaking any of it provisions.

This was the first opportunity I had to see the impeachment session being opened.

I found it comforting.

You know the Dems are desperate when they count on the Bible, Bolton and the Pledge of allegiance.

Separation of Church and state works two ways. The government does not have the right to stop a prayer being said if people want to hear it. The law is meant to moderate society, not blast religion.

Probably crossed their fingers and mumbled.....

Surprised they didn't take a knee.

Agreed, and even worse is listening to them talk about how important the constitution is but then turn around and try to make laws that go against it.
I guess its like the bible, only recognize the part that you like and act like the rest is not there.

Participate in reciting the Pledge?

Good question.

On the cable news station I was watching, the camera never wavered from Roberts during the recitation, so you couldn't tell.

Maybe another network got a larger field of view?

Was anyone else watching the opening of the session?

I agree.

With the Bernie vs Christ comment, I was being quite sarcastic

Cheers
