Boeing giving up on 'space plane'?

Boeing decided to halt the development of the experimental spaceplane it was building as part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) XS-1 program.

It’s unclear exactly why Boeing is dropping out of the program. However, the company issued a statement saying it would be redirecting its investment from the program to other areas.

does this mean US back to planning mode for 'space plane'?

conspiracy theory; Boeing is 'publicly' stopping this but maybe not 'privately'

alternates?

They were putting an undisclosed amount of their own money into the program. With the Max grounding now looking like it's going to go into June, they're looking at somewhere around $12B in losses. They can't afford this program. There was always some speculation though that they wouldn't ever build anything, but didn't want anyone else getting it.

America already has the Tic-Tac far ahead advanced technology doesn't it ? So why can't Boeing build something as simple as a Space Plane?

Oh hang on.

B'ing having financial issues thanks to the 737Max

will someone pick it up? will Uncle Sam go to one of the other bidders?

having a space plane would sure be good, esp with the new Space Force coming out

I suppose that re-opens the field to proposals, doesn't it? Although, perhaps it will depend on how the proposal request was worded?
