This week actor/ musician Laurence Fox was accused of not being able to have an

opinion because he was "a privileged white man." His opinion was that Megan

Markle's treatment by the press was not racist.

I entirely agree with him. I think it is weak for anyone to use race, sex,

disability or any number of other reasons for not achieving.

In my opinion Megan Markle uses her colour to her advantage to get what she

wants. It becomes a % start to anything she wants to achieve .....To quote the

words of a well known comedian (now retired) Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) when

he didn't get his way *Is it because I is black?*

Megan Markle considers herself a strong woman.....She is NOT ......she lights

the fire, but doesn't hang around for the blaze. Instead she just whinges that

it is her colour (only 50%) which holds her back!!!!!

How disingenuous is that to ALL those people who have achieved success

without using the race card.

*Oprah, *Naomi Campbell, *Daymond John, *Michael Jorden,

*Janice Bryant Howroyd, *Obama, *Jay-Z and Beyonce, *Diana Ross,

*George Foreman, *Tina Turner, *Jennifer Hudson, and so on.....

Now Laurence Fox is getting embroiled in a row with equity and being

labeled *a disgrace to the industry.* IS HE NOT ALLOWED AN OPINION?

And surely him being called *A privileged white man* is racist ?

OR

Can only only white people be racist?

Can only only white people be racist?

Seems so , it's a rod we created for our own back.

The claim that the press and people's problem with Meghan Markle stems from her ethnicity is just a cover to hide the real problem and yes it's an easy way to try and dodge valid criticism , we see it used here when criticism of the Israeli government is met with accusations of antisemitism.

There seems a relentless attack on anybody white these days! The man said the truth - she was being arrested.

Stormzy made a crazy comment recently - he said " I am not anti white, I am just pro black!"
Now what would happen if somebody white said the opposite - "I am not anti black, I am just pro white!"

Doesn't that sound awfully racist? The press would have a field day.

She married a WHITE prince and had a child who will be forever privileged as a result.

Any women or at least I'm lead to believe through life experiance always harbors a dream to become a real life princess regardless of her color.

So -

Clearly her color hasn't impeded her achieving every girls dream.

What a load of nonsense - honestly, nonsense and this is coming from someone who doesn't even like her. I don't like her because everything she stood for pre marriage with her womens movements etc She contradicted by marrying into that particular family.

I don't think the media are racist towards her. But certainly some here are.
As for Lawrence if hes privileged then what is the likes of Andrew or Charles, more nonsense.

I agree with most of your OP -- EXCEPT this:

...*Obama...

Obama played the race card from the bottom of a fixed deck before, during and after his elections.

Megan married into the most evil family on earth. She has a lot more to wary about than race.

Mentalist? LOL! Flattery will get you nowhere

However, in terms of denying ignorance, obsession will take one much much farther in terms of educating and informing oneself than hiding one's head in the sand...

Oh dear... thee most evil??? No one is more evil? Anywhere? At all???

Those are some mighty big words. But I'm betting dollars to donuts that if you were given the choice to spend the rest of your days with the British Royal Family or the Saudi Royal Family, you'd be begging for the Brits!

I disliked the royals long before it was considered racist to do so. Philip has personally disrespected me and my uniform while on duty. The Queen I have the utmost respect for, the rest of them not really. Charles for example decided to visit us over Christmas. The result for us was cancelled leave and most of us unable to see our families as we had to cover the increased security his visit to such a sensitive area brought.

Mr Fox spoke common sense on the BBC no less, I'm not surprised he is being attacked from certain quarters. Swapping one type of racism for another type isn't progress.

Yes.

a privileged white man

This statement is elitist, racist and sexist. All these adjectives are used in a discriminating context to hold one in contempt.

Thank you, but too late -- I've already read it. And, yes, it definitely shows Meghan criticized for things that Kate was not. But there is absolutely nothing racist in there. You can assign whatever motives to the media that you so choose, including racism, but it's just your opinion.

I would suggest that the racist perspective is the go-to for racist people, who cannot get past it to recognize, acknowledge, or understand another perspective... a broader and more comprehensive perspective. Lots of people don't like lots of other people for lots of different reasons. You and I could dislike the same person for different reasons... or dislike different people for the same reason.

On the other hand, there is also much reason to believe that the animosity shown toward Meghan has other origins. Starting with the lawsuits they have filed against major media outlets -- including the Daily Mail. And as I'm sure you already know, the Daily Mail has released hard evidence of bad behavior on Meghan's part, and has stated they have more which they may or may not release.

And, of course, Meghan's very publicly reported actions also inform our opinions -- no one's editorializing necessary or wanted.

In my opinion, a white male does hold some privilege in western society as they have the least likely chance to be opressed because of race or gender.

Majority people in western power are white males, so opportunity and perspective has historically favored white males. It's only recently that it has been pointed out.

I think the idea has just gone overboard with liberals using the term to shut down conversation.

Fair point. It's always questionable when someone responds to an arguement by labeling them racist. I've been called an anti semite for saying israeli is terrible for how they treat Palestinians as if hamas is an excuse to mutilate and treat an entire area of people as sub-humans.
