I've seen posted on another forum that more than 20 are from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

News is reporting confirmation a SA-15 missile took down the plane.

Suppose the Iranians...didn't shoot down this plane...suppose the software of the SAM system was...hacked...taken over by...?
In an effort to express..."these are the least of our capabilities...and everything electronic you own is now under our control"...

Because it wasn't the US making it a no fly zone, it was the FAA, and it only applied to civilian aircraft registered in the United States.

Aren’t the Iranian air defense systems Russian in origin?

This plane was flying to Kiev in Ukraine. From Iran, which has close ties to Russia.

Perhaps someone in Ukraine, or Russia did not want this trip to be completed?

Perhaps the Iranian missile launch was just a cover for the shoot down?

Is the fact that some effort appears to have been made by the Iranian forces to avoid American casualties is the result of an “arrangement” brokered with US government officials?

If so, did Russia play a part in the deal?

We all know that planes just do not blow up, and then just blow up during an event like this...geez.

Just seems like Iran was totally freaking out over something they created and we were just like WTF are they doing as they ran around like their heads were cut off. Shooting down an airline that just took off from their own airport is beyond stupid.

The Iranian missile launch was over before the plane ever took off.

Sometimes, contrary to what people say, # happens and people make mistakes. No rabbit holes, no mysterious reasons, they just screw up.

"Accidental" seems implausible but not impossible. One Iranian faction acting against the interests of the state itself seems possible given how Iran works. Who knows. The echoes of July 1988 airliner shot down are uncanny.

Iran was bracing for US military action that night (in response to its own missile attacks on US bases in Iraq). Its anti-aircraft units would have been on ultra-high alert -- and probably extremely jumpy.

Why they didn't shut down civilian air traffic on that night seems to err on incompetence.

Air traffic tracked by Flightradar24 in and around Tehran, sequence begins 5 minutes prior to the departure of PS752. You can see PS752 for a few seconds then disappear.
