I think Trump has done a really foolish thing, and it's obviously done off his own bat, same as he did in the debacle of the Ukraine fund being withheld.

So we just let them burn down our embassy with no consequences? Not to mention the other killings of Americans he's responsible for. Yeah, that's a great idea.

Do you honestly believe the tripe that Trump withheld that aide specifically so they would investigate Biden? Forget the fact that it was done within the legal parameters and for the stated legal reasons. If you disagree you'll need to provide actual evidence that it wasn't because no one else has yet.

My prediction? Innocent people on both sides will suffer just like always. Nothing has changed. Only the dumb and evangelicals believe Trump is some kind of anti establishment savior.
US foreign policy is always the same no matter who is sitting in the WH.
Time to wake the f up

You know that dude that was killed was a bad guy right ?

You know that the dude who was killed defeated ISIS in two countries?
What are his crimes?
Orchestrating attacks against the US that saw the death of Americans.

This was a bad dude and him taking on isis? What of it? Knockout two birds with one stone, welcome to reality.

"Iran got their pee-pee spanked in public.

They will chill out.

An actress will show side-boob and distract everyone.

Nothing else will happen."

-Miss Cleo

Why is Trump sending 3.000 troops If nothing else will happen?

So that nothing WILL happen. It's a sign to the Iranians that we're serious and not to F with us. As opposed to "hey Mr. Mullah, he's 150 billion dollars that we've been sitting on, go ahead and use it to finance more terrorists" which was one of the stupidest things Obama did.

Iran's biggest sin was trying to use their own currency instead of becoming a puppet of the World bank like everyone else. How dare they!

Iran's biggest sin was to become a theocratic dictatorship where repression and control is the order of the day.

They are also a member of the World Bank.

World Bank

The Iranian "special forces" were attacking Americans.

Which, in my opinion, was a bad thing.

FFS, what do you think is going to happen now, even more Americans...and others, will perish!!

So ummm, we should have let the bad guy kill "some" Americans so we wouldn't piss him off?

I know you aren't really saying that, are you?

My prediction is that this just ensures it escelate eventually. I don't think it will be soon, but they'll retaliate down the road. Then so goes the tit for tat.

No question this dude was horrible. He was scum of the earth.... But he was a general, so I don't imagine they do nothing.

Maybe it will just be some small exchanges. Who knows. The whole situation with Iran has surprised me thus far given the infatuation for war with politicians.

Of course not, so don't put words into my mouth.

It's Trump that is the issue here,
If it is the case that Qasem Soleimani has planned further attacks...as Trump has said, (there are no details thus far) not that it matters so much, since it is probable that further attacks are planned anyway, then it is also probable that those attacks will take place somewhere...Iran has other generals I would guess, just as America, and Et Al have.
So what next? kill all Iranian generals?...an act of war no less.

I gather that an air strike last week already killed a large number of Iran backed Hezbollah planners in Syria and Iraq also for the attack and killing on the American contractor, so why go so far as to kill a bona fide Iran 'special force' general in another, this time a seemingly pre-emptive attack, which is an act of war, while Trump maintains it's not intended to start a war...it makes no sense, nor does it make sense for Trump to send a few thousand troops to Iraq who's role is very unclear, and are themselves identifiable uniformed targets, *virtual cannon fodder*

*not meant as an ill-mannered statement, but as a fact, where troops are but one step above civilians who take most of deaths in war.

So, not only does Trump contradict himself as to what his aims are, he is also not doing his duty as CIC and protecting his small contingent of troops who will be very vulnerable in Iraq where that country is wanting rid of US troops as of now.

A couple points to make.

1. If they had cell phone records of Salamander or whatever his name was, then they probably know a lot more than you or I could imagine.

2. If memory serves, when Reagan was president and he stood up to the Soviet Union, there were similar people making wee in their pants about world wars that never happened.

I see something similar here.

If the media and politicians and pundits can scare enough people into thinking that Trump will start WWIII, then their hope is to actually change foreign policy.

Frankie goes to Hollywood says, "Relax". (Sorry, did a Duran Duran reference earlier)

So far here's what has happened,
Qasem Soleimani killed
Right thousands more troops are being deployed to the region.
Democratic backlash

My predictions -

Gas prices going up - I bet my pinky finger on this
Maybe some terrorist attacks in ME & quite possibly a few homeland attacks?
Democratic backlash will sway in opposite direction - nothing brings us closer together than being attacked, right?
Cyber attacks - I think this is already happening on a much larger scale than is being shown to the mass public
US sends even more troops
US starts to go into a recession with fragile states falling first and hard (Illinois, NY, Pennsylvania, etc.)

Anything else?

Gas prices going up - I bet my pinky finger on this

That is one wager I will not collect from anyone .
Careful what you say.

Maybe some terrorist attacks in ME & quite possibly a few homeland attacks?

Being cowards , Iran has to fight their battles by proxy

Democratic backlash will sway in opposite direction - nothing brings us closer together than being attacked, right?

I highly doubt that cause "Trump"

Cyber attacks - I think this is already happening on a much larger scale than is being shown to the mass public

That would be the 3rd biggest mistake they could ever make. Done fried their "brains" one time.

US sends even more troops

If the crap breaks out , hopefully enough to get the job completely done and see it through .

US starts to go into a recession with fragile states falling first and hard (Illinois, NY, Pennsylvania, etc.)

Illinois , and others , have already put themselves in that position .

There are no ifs or buts about information, The American NSA admitted long ago that they look at everything in detail..they are only a part. The NCTC is charged with looking at intel from all services, it is the umbrella of all intel services.
Thing is, it's not just America that does these things is it?
Thing is, high tech is available to many countries these days...so there's not so much to imagine about what can be done, and much less as to what cannot be done.

So you digress, and pretty much ignored what I posted...I don't care so much but a little disappointed, while no one..not me anyway, mentioned WW3.

An oil tanker will be attacked in The Straights of Hormuz, possibly two, maybe more causing the US Navy to send in more patrol boats and escorts, pushing up oil prices. There will be several small battles in this area. Iran effectively losing it's naval power.

Several US bases in Iraq will come under rocket fire. Those firing will quickly find out that the US has LOTS of drones, most targeting where the missiles are coming from.

Hezbollah starts mass firing missiles on Israel.

Several oil fires are started in Iraq.

Oil prices keep climbing.

Israel, not the US begins the first bombing of Iran, attempting to take out their nuclear program.

Iran is blamed for oil wells being set ablaze in Saudi Arabia.

Oil prices keep climbing.

The US bombs several places in Iraq, infuriating the current Government even more.

Ummmm....

That is all I got, and is more of a nightmare scenario than actual prediction, but I suspect some of this will happen before a solution is found or someone is appeased enough to de-escalate.

I only have one prediction.
If things continue down this road, it will only end like this....

I'm actually taken back by all the "LOL"s on here.
There are some, not all, who seem to think war is a joke.
People need to realize that this isn't a video game.
The dead don't respawn, and war has consequences.
