Are the Turks wanting to resurrect the Ottoman Empire? Geez that could get nasty. They owned the Mediterranean Sea and huge swaths of W Europe. Maybe the caliphate idea is theirs? That would be a game changer. Russia would be their enemy even if it starts out their friends but the power grab by Turkey will be challenging to their interest too.

As a veteran I ask, do we have to be SO specific with the details? We can mention this but not exact #'s here. I would think the exactness of it all hurts the troops. I would like to make it so those who wish to know what those exact numbers are have to dig so that our troops get some protection from the information. I appreciate the updates. Please, don't misinterpret my comment as to be mean spirited in intent.

Safety first in my line of work.

I think about safety issues. Right now we found Mercury in a lab after we moved some old filing cabinets of hard copies of lab results when our ozone monitors were picking up a sudden major interference. Turns out one of the quality control scientist years back had dropped about a pound of it and the cleanup apparently wasn't adequate. The Mercury was used for a sensitive and precise barometer control device to challenge barometric readings of the monitors.

For Q to provide that ring proof in a post means IT IS IMPORTANT.

Over in the main thread on this crash, I asked Zaphod if these holes were consistent with shrapnel from a SAM, and he said they were.

This is probably an accidental shoot-down by the Iranians. Unless there was someone on that plane who was being targeted.
