If you like this franchise, you will like this film. One action cgi sequence after another. But what makes this episode great is the characters that play their roles flawlessly; Fantasy figures, larger than life, profane, badass and extreme. The story was a little convoluted unless you are a true fan but this one stands alone with the brilliant sfx/cgi and fantastic cast.

Needs the big screen...

Thank you I needed to hear that. I been hearing trash reviews but from people who are not true fans of the franchise. I am simply excited to see the return of Linda Hamilton. Long overdue if you ask me. I'll catch a matinee next Tuesday.

Spoilers ahead. You have been warned.

This film is a slap in the face to fans of the first two. It completely sh&%s on the Sarah Connor/John Connor dynamic to shoehorn in political agendas.

Everything you loved about Terminator 1 and 2 is destroyed by Dark Fate with Skynet having been destroyed and Judgment Day was stopped. This was explicitly stated as such by Sarah Connor yet she is still receiving co-ordinates of Terminators that Skynet is apparently still sending back, from none other than, yes, another Terminator. However, this Terminator is different, this Terminator has developed a conscience, this Terminator has picked a name, this Terminator is called Carl and Carl has a family now see so Carl understands what it's like to be human now and strives to right a wrong!

Oh please!

What a load of utter trash this film was, so disappointing, I could hop over to the story forum now and write a short story tying up the Terminator franchise, zero problem.

T2 is/was the gold standard. How does it compare to T2? Everything after T2 (IMO) has been a cheap imitation and unworthy of the name.

I thought (and still do, but reserving final judgement until after I see this) that they should have left well enough alone after T2. It was a perfect film and Cameron did the impossible with it (made a sequel that was better than the original. Which was already damn good). To me there was no reason they needed to do anything else with the Terminator name at the end of T2. If they wanted to play around with it, they could have started fresh instead of tainting the magnificence of the first two with vastly inferior stuff.

I truly love the butt-hurt reactions from some, crying about the film destroying part one and two.
Clearly they are letting emotion cloud the whole point of the films.
Time travel changes outcomes.
Nothing is ever set in stone. Alternate realities are endless.
Stop crying and have some fun, if you remember how.

See people saying they should leave it after T2, I mean, I get that, fantastic movie, but they could tie it up so easily.

Terminator 3: Revolution or Dark Fate also works with this version.

Opens to the apocalyptic vista following a Judgment Day that still happened following the efforts of John and Sarah in T2, camera panning across the ground littered with skulls of the terminated as purple lasers flash past. It would open into a battle between the Resistance and Skynets minions as we're narrated by Linda Hamilton saying Judgment Day was inevitable, it was always going to happen and always will happen.

The film would focus on how the Resistance pushed back so hard at an all powerful Skynet that Skynet has no choice but to send a Terminator to the past to eliminate John Connor. We would see the Resistance all but destroy Skynet toward the end of the film as they raid a heavily guarded chamber, destroy the remaining Terminators only to see a sphere collapse in on itself as electrical arcs lick around the frame work. They will learn that Skynet has developed Time Travel technology and sent a Terminator back to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor and in the event of it's failure a second Terminator is sent to 1995 to kill John Connor. At this point John understands what is happening and turns to Kyle, explains what Skynet has done and what needs to be done to undo it. They reprogram a malfunctioning T-800 with new orders to protect John Connor and send it to 1995 and then they send Kyle to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor. The last scene of the film will be the first scene of The Terminator as the T-101 appears in 1984. A perfect, self contained time-loop, considering the original Terminator was more of a horror and meant to scare people then what is more scary than being stuck in a time-loop forever.

Any additional stories they wanted to do could be self contained within a TV series like, I dunno, The Sarah Connor Chronicles but they screwed that up too.

Well what next, gone with the wind 2, 3 and 4 as they trawl the barrel for new creative ideas having fired or otherwise abused all the real talent out of the movie industry, using Generic teenage females that are butt hurt ugly unlike the truly beautiful starlets of the silver screen, then again they would have to give Scarlet a machine gun and a battle scar to appeal to the audiences of today and as for poor old red with the classic finishing sentence "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn" he would likely be shot by her before she rides off into the sunset with a posse of female lesbian bank robbers or something to appeal to the make them all ugly PC crowd.

Yeah not seen it but from what he say's any wish to watch it has now been terminated as far as I am concerned as his review sound's honest and to the point, also very funny and probably better than the movie itself.

Too bad you didn't send this to Mr. Cameron BEFORE he made this mess. Now we'll never see this actualized. I will likely watch Dark Fate just for the entertainment, but I do wish he had done something along the lines of your version.

Ohh look, a positive review of a movie that has been universally panned. From someone who works in the movie industry no less.

That seems like something I should totally take into consideration and go watch this wonderful film.

Also, when you get home from the theater folks, maybe cap off the night by watching some Batwoman or Watchman. Other shows with fantastic casts and flawless acting.

Honestly it looks pretty bad to me.
Considering the last turd the franchise blessed up with I'll pass on this one.

I'll likely watch it as I've watched all the movies and the show but it does look pretty bad judging by the trailers.

It ended up being another “woke” piece of hollyweird filth. It bombed for a reason. If the morons making movies produced good stories with good characters they would sell more tickets. No one wants to be force fed a failed political agenda as part of their entertainment.

You would think when they make enough flops that the money would dry up.
I have a feeling the next star wars is going to crash and burn followed the next few movies with the Marvel universe.
