Here you go. The earliest hardest heavy metal I could find:

1966

Cave Men - it's trash

It's trash!
The way you go out on me every night
It's trash!
And no one can make me believe that it's not
You want my love
But you lie and deceive
You say you love me
But I do believe that it's trash!
It's trash!
To want someone like I want you is bad
It's trash!
When all you ever do is make me sad
I want your love but I won't give in
The way you lead your life is a sin
Cause it's trash!

You're missing some greats like Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, MC5, along with bunches of others that weren't as famous like The Velvet Haze, Stone Garden, Crank, lots of early metal.

Those are all pretty common. I was looking for some deeper cuts. I tried MC5 several times I could only find live cuts. I like studio cuts for these lists. I don't know why.

Post of couple of your favorites. I would love to expand the play list. Nothing too common. I know all the Deep Purple and Steppenwolf stuff.

Valhalla - Hard Times from 1969

Spooky Tooth - Tobacco Road - 1968

Here's a couple. Spooky Tooth has some hard blues in this one but it's a unique metal-ish tune and an interesting version of the song.

In the sixties, Blue Cheer was the loudest recorded band...So loud, they had to record on a shipping peer outside.

The DRUMMER miked his drums thru 3 Marshal Stacks.

ZZ Top formed in 1969 so technically that would be my favorite .

But if you had to have a hit in the 60s, Iron Butterfly

BTW

I’m pretty sure they called it acid rock or psychedelic rock back then .

YEEEESH... I hate how those old people used to do things... that voice.

I mean I thought it was terrible hearing judas priest "Get down on your knees and repent if you please!" in a high pitched girly voice.

Thank god I caught the tail end of it where bands took the styles but made them... better.

Shame metallica are now a parody of themselves.. and megadeth are a slightly boring christian style rock band.. at least we still have slayer.

Ever see the medly of so many metal bands do a cover of a cover song?

Yeah... they're a wee bit up 'emselves though..
