You discuss creation and then say not the Old Testament, hmmm

Because I just know somebody will say we are not under that law anymore, which is true.
But the historical part of the old testament should not be ignored, this deals with creation, Jesus also confirmed the creation account when speaking as well, and he would know, he was there.

Of note some of the 10 commandments are still used for our criminal codes today, it has formed the backbone of proper social civilization for many centuries.

Yeahh, bit was that your issue

I believe in creation, 6 days, blah blah, but. I havnt read my salvation will be lost if I change my mind on creation, have you?

10 commandments were civil and spiritual law for the Jews
Western society adopted some, not all, should we adopt all of them, no?
Because they are not all relevant
Yes, many are good, not arguing that
I believe in civil law and justice

I have homosexual friends I love, a niece and my best mates daughter, love them all
Is that wrong, would love them all to come to church, would wave a gay flag out the front if I thought it would get them to hear God’s message of love for them

I just disagree because we are called to love and offer non judgemental hope to everyone
That’s just my opinion, could be wrong

the real tragedy is that people in the 21st century believe in biblical rainbow fantasies

It's about how a symbol has been appropriated for the use of others. I thought cultural appropriation was bad.

It's not wrong to want them to come to God, but part of coming to God is to hear the bits about where sex is approrpiate -- inside marriage and what a marriage is, and Jesus did very much address those topics.

That’s right Jesus did that, no argument
Without the Holy Spirit the ability to change is impossible, maybe abstinence, whatever.
Also, as I understand it, all humanity needs Christ’s redemption.
All sin, all fall short of Gods glory
If a person repents, tries to turn from their sin, relies on Christ not themselves

I am not justifying pre marital sex, I know the law, it’s love.
You are preaching at the converted

I believe every Christian is a sinner, homosexuals wha accept Christ, who have repented are Christian in my opinion, if they fall then I will pick them up

That's fine, you can justify your bigotry any way you need to in order to help you sleep at night.

None of this is directed towards you, nor anyone here in particular, but some of the cruelest people to me in my life have been religious people. Very judgemental and very rude, all because of my beliefs, my dress, and some even because of my skin color. For most of my life I've disliked religious people because of this, because not many have proven to not be this way. Then, over the last couple of years on social media, there's this big push of people being rude to those with religious beliefs. Atheists all over mocking and scoffing at them. It's gotten to the point where I started defending people from these attacks, because I don't like seeing people harassed like I've been, even if I'm defending the type of people that used to harass me.

Then I read things like I am in this thread and it makes me wonder, why the hell am I defending people like this?? In many ways I appreciate this thread, because it gave me insight that I guess I must've needed. Not that my defenses online really have any effect on those I'm defending, but I think I'll just stop. Let the haters hate. Just as you can't accept the homosexual lifestyle, I can't accept stupid bigotry, and I don't need no fictional book to justify that for me.

I can not accept the homosexual life style as being good and normal
when I know it's not.

The bible is open to interpretation. Pretending to know the mind of God is a dangerous pursuit.

Yes, He did. Which would be what we know as the Old Testament.

And?

I'm not sure what your point is. I can take that a dozen different directions...

The reason I bring this up is that I recently saw a big rainbow flag planted right in front of a church.

Have you ever considered, that particular church by placing the rainbow flag trying to show their love for their neighbor ? After all even Jesus choose to sit down with sinners. May i remind you Mark 2-17 ?

17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Also keep in mind the two great commands Jesus gave :

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Whatever sins a person has committed the ultimate Judgement is up to God. We can only follow the two great commandments and be accepting and loving. After all

46 If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that?

On a side note that particular quote from Matthew in your OP has nothing to do with ignoring the bible.

Peace

A) none have read the whole bible.. sure a hand full here or there might have, but 99.99% of Christians have never read the whole bible.

they are just taking the individual verses their preacher uses on Sundays.

Almost no Christian has any idea of the context surrounding those verses..

B) the Bible is super dry reading.. And very repetitive..

It was not meant to be a bible.

It is a compilation of old works written individually.

C) The Bible is full of things better forgotten.. like Leviticus.. lol

Here are some qoutes to make you understand why people choose to ignore parts of the bible.

(28 "If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered, 29 then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl's father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because * he has violated her; he cannot * divorce her all his days.)
This qoute ranges from possibly supporting rape, to giving a man complete control over a woman's life.

(20 “Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, 21 but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property. )
Should we be taking advice from a book that condoned slavery?

(12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.
Holy books are often patriarchal and violent. Unfit for modern society. )
More patriarchal opression of women.

Why are you listening to the bible on how to live your life? Holy books like the bible, quran, or torah are patriarchal and violent. Just look at how wonderful conservative islamic nations are.

In my opinion, we do not need to derive our morals from holy books that tell us how to think and behave. Can we not follow our hearts and just minds to find a righteous way to live?

I think it is weakness that we rely on a supoosed higher power to tell us how to think or behave.

So, if I understand correctly, you're upset that this particular church isn't homophobic and seem to be accepting of others??

There's a huge difference between accepting homosexuals and promoting homosexuality.

Well let’s be fair..

The Bible is very anti-homosexual.

The modern world isn’t, but the Bible is a book written by monsters from 2,000 years ago.. and the monsters is not as much a criticism as it seems..

2,000 years ago anyone with the power to be a monster, was a monster.

No doubt about that, and I am not arguing it. The problem we have is that modern society has conditioned them to rely on how they have sex as their identity.

Modern society is over-sexualized in the main for all of us in every way. Look at it. We're expected to exercise control over our bodies and desires even in modern life where it comes to things like greed (being rich is evil, right) and gluttony (obesity epidemic - in fact, they even tried to mandate how much kids could and could not eat at school during the last administration to enforce that control over portion), but when it comes to sex, sexuality, sexual fetishes of all kinds ... no one is expected to exercise the least bit of control, the only normalcy is what you desire and how much and how often and that definition expends daily now.

And it's all labeled love, and then it gets conflated with how Jesus said we need to love each other to try to force us to accept it in all forms.

It's a sickness.

No there isn’t..

That is absolutely a subjective line, not an objective one.

Just allowing homosexuals to attend would be promoting it for some..

Normalizing homosexuality is considered promoting it, and by definition “normalizing” would be “accepting” it..

So no you cannot point at 2 subjective things and pretend they establish a fair “line in the sand”.
