This is me asking the question, what’s really happening out there. This isn’t for the people who are so neck deep into the Republican vs Democratic divide that they can’t see beyond their party lines. It’s a question for the people who can see through all the madness and into the abyss of reality.

In the past we’ve often assumed or presumed that global events are mere distractions for the bigger story. For example, just before 9-11 the Pentagon lost something like 2.1 trillion dollars. Like a fart in the wind...it vanished. And then, either conveniently or coincidentally, planes started flying into buildings and we got left with the Patriot act.

Right now the world is in chaos. American politics, Hong Kong vs China, Brexit, riots and protests in the streets of Iraq, Lebennon, France, Chile, Russia, Dominican Republic and so on and so on. Syria and Turkey are at war. Saudi Arabia and Iran are staring each other down. Who would have thought we would be in a time when North Korea was tamed compared to the rest of the world.

So what’s really going on? Is humanity to congested and desperate for power? Has technology given us too much information and too powerful of a voice for our own good? Was the Epstein case so damning that global leaders just said...”f*** it, we’ll burn the place down to protect ourselves from the fallout”?

I’m curious, to the true skeptics out there...might there be a shadow lurking in the global motivations moving the pieces around to distract us from something greater?

Yes, compared to WWII, or any other point in time the world is the safest it’s ever been for someone to live in. But that’s really not an answer to my question or relative to it.

The following was written in 1958. The difference between 1958 and 2019 is the Internet. Nothing much has changed. We just know about it more quickly.

They're rioting in Africa
They're starving in Spain
There's hurricanes in Florida
And Texas needs rain
The whole world is festering with unhappy souls
The french hate the Germans, the Germans hate the Poles
Italians hate Yugoslavs, South Africans hate the Dutch
And I don't like anybody very much!!

But we can be tranquil and thankful and proud
For man's been endowed with a mushroom-shaped cloud
And we know for certain that some lovely day
Someone will set the spark off
And we will all be blown away!!

They're rioting in Africa
There's strife in Iran
What nature doesn't so to us
Will be done by our fellow man

The multinational corporations that pretty much control the world now are in the middle of shifting their consumer base from north America to the rapidly emerging one in India and China while north America is being shifted to a resource extraction based economy where we're pretty much.going to end up in the conditions most third world countries are in now. There's been a dramatic pushback in environmental regulations over the last several years and resource extraction and export has increased accordingly. Resources are increasingly being exported to Asia without even being processed here. Meanwhile, property values in north America are being pushed beyond the reach of people that actually live here by increasingly aggressive foreign investment and speculation. Meanwhile those countries are locking down foreign investment and are increasingly pushing at trade deals, making them more favourable for themselves.

Good idea for a thread and good question.

The answer is "I don't know but I'll take a guess"

I think (for one thing) that all this nonsense and chatter about who is spying on who and who found out what through spying is all about normalizing spying. Once they have significantly numbed the general public's natural fear response to the idea of government spying (by spying on people various portions of the public don't like) they can spy on average citizens without making excuses (like terrorism or whatever). And furthermore, they can do it with the full knowledge and consent of the majority and no one will care. I mean, most people already don't care so the whole thing with placating and distracting with shiny objects that spy on you while giving you small doses of reward is obviously working perfectly, eh?

And now just about everyone has a cool little computer they carry around with them everywhere that knows just about everything about them (including what they're thinking because they're happy to share it with the creeps who are soaking it all up like a sponge and plotting all the sinister and creepy things they can do in the future).

"Ain't this cool? I can fart on my phone and it knows what I ate!" LOL

"Ummm. Yeah. But if your phone knows what you ate, big brother also knows what you ate. What if big brother decides to tell you what to eat and makes sure you follow orders by using your phone to enforce the diet?"

Anyway, I've gone off on a rant about the spying thing. One tiny aspect of the grand scheme of things. Normalizing the idea of spying and overcoming the general public's natural aversion to it. You know? If they want you to sleep with venomous snakes, they'd have to figure out a way to make you not afraid of venomous snakes (which you should be and everyone knows that, right?).

I'd honestly rather sleep with a rattlesnake than a smartphone but that's just me.

It's a movie. You're watching a movie.

The climate is changing, shifting.

Whether by man directly, exacerbated by man indirectly, or completely independent of man, the change is real, and it’s first intimations are upon us.

Like gazelles catching the first scent of stalking lions on the wind, we are reacting to instinctual threats we perceive but cannot yet confirm.

The wise among us will migrate to safer places; the rest will have to take their chances in the great stampede that will occur once the lions begin their culling.

When I saw the title I thought " There could be a inter-galactic war going on right now deciding the fate of the Universe and our future as a species."

And we don't even know.

But seriously. What I think is really going on in the abyss of the human experience is pretty simple.

We spent millions of years as hunters and gatherers. Thousands of years as agriculturalists and kingdom builders. Five hundred years as world explorers, two hundred years as industrialists, all without any electricity.

We have spent a hundred years with electricity and less with any form of instant communication and only 70 with a screen in every home.

Twenty years with people carrying those screens around with them and only about ten or less with all the information we now have available to almost any one who wants it.

We are fracturing from fabricated falsehoods mixed into all of that and how it will end up is any ones guess.
That's what I think is happening ''out there''.

I am on record here stating my belief that Donald Trump is an expression of the "Chaos" element/archetype/meme, etc. I came to believe this a little over two years ago, and while it's hardly unique, I do believe that groups of people are subject to psychological forces en masse. The world has either gone stale or rotted (or both I guess) and I believe that Trump is the spear point of deep cultural forces that always show up in times like these.

It's fairly certain that the world is never going to be the same again.

We probaly already have other planets colonized and this one's being used to extract wealth/resources before the impending pole shift comes.
The lack of tech shared since the moon landing is suspicious.

Or

Think tanks are telling tptb that they don't fit in in the info age. People will figure out they are living under a bunch of chester the molesters who add no value and rig everything in site and weaponize taxes against the tax payers.

I am going to have to start paying more attention to your posts as that was a very observant summation.

Along with the climate changing as pointed out earlier and the rush from almost stand still to near instantaneous full throttle development over the course of our species time here, we have at this juncture, Trump.
To your thought with which I agree, I would add that he is also the embodiment of the creature bred from the failure of capitalism to police itself from allowing psychopathic self servers to rise to the top of it's pyramid rather than conducting itself in a manner appropriate to all that serve under it's reign.

This I'd say is partially the truth and, importantly, it has to be realised that this is not isolated to the US.

I really enjoyed this response as it’s one that I haven’t really heard much of, if at all, and you connect some interesting dots. Have you ever made a thread on this?

The instant communications technology you alluded to is why things seem so bad now.
