Wow...
That was a fricken good movie.
Joaquin Phoenix has to be a top contender of an Oscar and the film should be right there at the top of the list too.

It's amazing how you can feel this man losing his humanity right in front of your eyes.
The violence aspect has been blown way out of proportion by the media in my opinion. He kills a total of three men in this film, yes, it's not for the faint of heart.
Oddly enough nobody is mentioning the blood bath in John wick.. Countless brutal deaths.

Twenty years ago the joker was created by a vat of chemicals.
In 2019 the joker is created in something far worse, a vat of society.
This movie puts a spotlight on the problem of mental illness.

Ignore the paid critics on this one and go see the joker.

I can't watch Phoenix now in a movie after he let someone crap on his face, even if it wasn't real, only liked him in that alien movie with Mel Gibson in the farm

Didn't like this, too much blah blah blah. Lol

I hated it, was technically brilliant, good story, fantastic acting but was a bad movie for me, I actually wanted to walk out . Weird I know but it’s how I felt

I found it dull and predictable and no I wasn’t going into it expecting a supervillain movie with batman saving the day.

I don’t know if you might have secretly also found it boring OP because he kills (spoiler) 5 people in the movie by my count not 3.

Well everyone has opinions.
I thought the Oscar winner three billboards outside ebings Missouri was technically brilliant, fantastic acted and absolutely boring.

Again, just my opinion.

And two of the men he killed were done in self defence so I didn't count them as murders.

Typical teenager, watching angst filled new emo movies, you know it's only going to incite incels to kill people or something else, I'm sure I'll find the reason eventually. Should be ashamed of yourself, enjoying such a thing that obviously caters to the weakest of society where some innocent child will be influenced and take up guns and stab people.

And other things. so many other things..

.. well that's how I heard it was, from soooo many dickhe... I mean reviewers.

I'm waiting for the copy that doesn't have adverts all over it, or korean subtitles, personally... I mean.. I'm not paying $37 to see it here.. lol

All those smelly horrid people eating popcorn? no thanks !!

It would ruin a good movie!

One of the things I like about great movies are the unanswered questions.
Not so much major plot points but the minor stuff.
It makes you think after you leave the theatre.

Dude I loved three billboards like you say though it’s very subjective.

I do think there is a best actor nomination lined up for Phoenix already though based on this movie.

Haven't seen the movie, but I've read quite a bit about it. So, I don't have an opinion...yet. However, I do have what I think is an interesting observation about it which is timely.

Seems the critics are hating on this movie not because of the movie itself, but because of the societal undertones. Another great example of the MSM attempting to manipulate people's opinions to the left. In other words, the lefties don't like it, so therefore the critics must hate on it...in the hopes everyone else will hate and down-vote it. Wouldn't matter if the movie was up there with "Gone with the Wind", they'd still be hating on it. It's just how they roll anymore.

Those are my favorite kinds of movies, the ones that stick with you and you try to delve deeper into the meaning, or as you say unanswered questions.

I want to see his slip into mental madness.

I think many people will feel it hits too close to home, or they simply can't grasp mental illness. Just my take on what I've been hearing from feedback since it was released.

Thanks for the review. I plan on going for sure now as a result.

I was one of those idiots that downloaded a Russian dodgy copy and got a virus and had to go through hell to get the computer back up and running , it is only the second time it has happened to me but still AAAAA

Watch the fans one ChaoticOrder put up was well impressed with it for a low budget movie

I don't understand it either.
The only thing I can figure is they don't like a white man being # on by society. That only happens to others.

That or showing the media has a huge role in contributing to mental illnesd.

I really like it. It made a great back story to Heath Ledgers Joker (if you want to look at it that way).

Small Spoilers ahead!

I thought the gun going off on him was so small, but so huge to the overall crazy wreckless behavior of the Ledger style Joker. I see a lot of Taxi Driver in the film as well. The laughter tick was bit overused but a great back story, just like the crappy clown gig. Oh, and I was giddy with anticipation waiting for De Niro to be “silenced”.
It’s not really a fun movie, but it is a great movie.

I read something somewhere - could have been ATS, I think elsewhere though, how the movie was being panned by mainstream critics because it hits a bit too much truth about how media and society are creating these monsters (which the Joker is representative of) - rather than blaming the weapons used by the "Joker" archetype in society.

Crybabies on the left and crybabies on the right tend to get sand in their ladyparts very easily when a movie exposes their shortcomings in a way that they feel can't be argued with .

Extreme leftists are scared of this because it exposes the MSM feeding of the butthurt killers in society much the way extreme righties were butthurt about one of the earlier new star wars movies appearing to critique Neoconservatism (it was, as originally written, anti-fascist, but hit a little too close to home for Bush Neocons.)

Both lefties and righties who are against such social commentary messaging being portrayed thru art should throatpunch themselves for the rest of eternity. They both need to be called out more often. Its nice to see it being done here and there without regard to political affiliation.

I liked it, it was good to see how and why he became a psycho of a man. He was picked on and got his revenge on those types before turning on the system as a whole. the 2 hours went by very quickly and when it ended, I was a bit disappointed as i thought there were at least another 20 mins left. I would of liked to of seen him get his crew together, also what happened to the Razor in the mouth?? He never did that part. Would have been good to then co-incide with heath Ledger and his story about the scars!
