That's what they say. What do you believe?
A human thinks human thoughts. God thinks Godly thoughts. Actually he says that no human thinks like him. He says that as the heavens are higher than
the earth, so his ways are from that of humans, and his thoughts from ours.
So when you read his thoughts in the Bible are they superior than human knowledge?
The Bible is replete with prophecy. Many dealing with the Messiah, Christ. When Jesus came to earth things happened to him that no one even discerned
from scripture that was foretold to happen to him.
I was thinking about this reviewing the prophets and how Jesus fulfilled so many of their inspired words that were to happen to him.
Have you read through the Bible? It may be hard to understand without guidance. Perhaps you've never looked into it. Never thought about what is
really in it.
There was a man, an Ethiopian who was reading a scroll in his hand while he was traveling. The words he was studying were written in Isaiah, the year
the words were penned was 732 B. C. E. Over 700 years before Jesus lived. What was he reading in the scroll? We are told:
"Now this was the passage of Scripture that he was reading: “Like a sheep he was brought to the slaughter, and like a lamb that is silent before its
shearer, so he does not open his mouth. During his humiliation, justice was taken away from him. Who will tell the details of his generation?
Because his life is taken away from the earth.”-Acts 8:32, 33.
The disciple Phillip was lead to this honest-hearted man and he asked the Ethiopian eunuch if he understood what he was reading. The man although
great in power and status, being in charge of the treasury of queen Candace, humbly admitted he had no idea what this prophecy meant, who it was
referring to. He replied: "“I beg you, about whom does the prophet say this? About himself or about some other man?”-Acts 8:34.
Did you know something? For hundreds of years this prophecy was not understood. Even when Jesus Christ walked walked the earth his apostles, his
closest friends did not grasp what prophecy was saying about what was going to happen to the Messiah.
This is but one example among hundreds of prophecies concerning Jesus Christ. He knew he had to die. And he eventually even told his apostles that he
was going to be delivered up and put to death. Peter did not grasp this. Notice this passage:
"From that time forward, Jesus began explaining to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests
and scribes and be killed, and on the third day be raised up. At this Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying: “Be kind to yourself,
Lord; you will not have this happen to you at all.”-Matthew 16:21, 22.
If the Jews read the scriptures why did they not understand these things? Did it happen as the prophet foretold?
Jesus was betrayed for 30 silver pieces, the common price of a slave, by an intimate friend, his apostle Judas. This too was foretold long in
advance:
"Then I said to them: “If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, withhold them.” And they paid my wages, 30 pieces of
silver."-Zechariah 11:12.
"Then Judas, his betrayer, seeing that Jesus had been condemned, felt remorse and brought the 30 pieces of silver back to the chief priests and
elders." - Matthew 27:3.
"Even the man at peace with me, one whom I trusted,
Who was eating my bread, has lifted his heel against me."-Psalm 41:8.
"For it is not an enemy who taunts me; Otherwise I could put up with it. It is not a foe who has risen up against me; Otherwise I could conceal myself
from him. But it is you, a man like me, My own companion whom I know well."-Psalm 55:12, 13.
"And as they were reclining at the table and eating, Jesus said: “Truly I say to you, one of you who is eating with me will betray me.”-Mark
14:18.
Concerning the words the Ethiopian eunuch was reading, we are told that when Jesus was brought unjustly, and illegally before the Jewish high court,
the Sanhedrin, he remained silent:
"But while he was being accused by the chief priests and elders,
he made no answer. Then Pilate said to him: “Do you not hear how many things
they are testifying against you?” But he did not answer him, no, not a word, so that the governor was very surprised."-Matthew 8:32.
Like a sheep he was brought to the slaughter just as Isaiah foretold. No one was expecting this to happen, not even Jesus apostles, to the coming
Messiah. Yet it all happened as was foretold hundreds of years in advance.
It was even foretold that as Jesus was dying his garments would be divided up by casting lots over them:
"They divide my garments among themselves, And they cast lots for my clothing."Psalm 22:18.
"And they nailed him to the stake and distributed his outer garments by casting lots over them to decide who would take what."-Mark 15:24.
This is just a few but of many many prophecies all fulfilled to the very last detail. All in Jesus life. No one before he was born understood fully
what they meant. Not even the angels. Some say over 300 prophecies were fulfilled in him. There is certainly a list too long for me to take the time
to put them all down. They include the place of his birth. The fact that King Herod would murder all the children in Bethlehem trying to put him to
death, that he his parents would flee to Egypt.
Andi if you would take the time to read the chapter of
Isaiah 53 it goes
into great detail about the unjust death that would befall Jesus.
It wasn't until after Jesus resurrection and his appearance to his apostles that he opened up their minds and began to explain all these prophecies
about him...
He then said to them: “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all the things written about me in the Law of Moses and
in the Prophets and Psalms must be fulfilled.”
Then he opened up their minds fully to grasp the meaning of the Scriptures, and he said
to them, “This is what is written: that the Christ would suffer and rise from among the dead on the third day, and on the basis of his name,
repentance for forgiveness of sins would be preached in all the nations—starting out from Jerusalem."-Luke 24:44-47.
Over 40 people in the course of over the course of 1,600 years. And yet the message throughout all harmonizes. There are things that are explained
later in the Bible that were not even understood by the angels. And there are things that angels look into the Bible to understand.
Is it really just a book made by man?
It says that the Creator of the universe named Jehovah God inspired its writing.-2 Timothy 3:16, 17. Psalm 83:18. Jeremiah 10:10.
It explains that God's Son Jesus, on returning to heaven has been granted kingdom and a government over all.
It says that in the near future Jesus will ride forth to conquer all wickedness at Armageddon.
Humans cannot provide such a message and preserve it. Human wisdom cannot explain the supernatural wisdom that comes from the words in the Bible. It
is from above. It's word unites, offers hope, grants peace, and purpose for l life.
