It's all part of the ever progressing trend of power consolidation into the Presidency. The position has far more power now than what the Founders envisioned when the Constitution was written.

Absolutely. Sadly, starting with Adams and Jefferson and continuing through Obama and Trump.

I am hopeful that we will as a culture utilize all this extra energy to make lasting changes in our political system that corrects back to a more Constitutional basis.

... but I ain’t holding my breath.
