I had trouble with the length of the title. A better title would have been "Elizabeth Warren is running fake FB ads to bring attention to FB policy which Trump has used to post fake ads."

This all started because Trump started running anti-impeachment ads on facebook that contained documented falsehoods. When asked to remove the ads in accordance with Facebook's new "Fake News" policies, FB responded that it makes exceptions to allow politicians to post falsehoods.

As Facebook cracked down on disinformation flooding its social media platforms, executives decided to codify a key loophole: Politicians remained free to lie at will — unbound by the rules designed to stop everyday users from peddling viral falsehoods.

This decision, put into place last year, has sparked a sharp backlash this week among Democrats, who complain that it gives President Trump free rein to use major social media platforms as disinformation machines. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a leading presidential candidate, made this point in a Facebook ad Thursday in which she joked that the company had endorsed Trump, adding that its policies allow “a candidate to intentionally lie to the American people.”

Warren’s ad was the latest salvo in a growing campaign by Democrats to pressure social media companies to curb Trump’s ability to push demonstrably untrue information on their platforms. Last week, Democrat Joseph Biden asked Facebook to remove a Trump campaign ad that made false claims, prompting the company to refuse on the grounds that political speech is not covered by the expansive fact-checking system it put in place after the 2016 presidential election.

Odd.. I had thought that Democrats frowned on foreigners using ads on Facebook to possibly influence an election.

I may be a little biased and bitter about Warren because I'm Cherokee.

We've made jokes about her (and the stupidity of the white man believing her) for at least 20 years.

My favorite conversation about her I overheard over a campfire at a Delaware Powwow.

Someone brought up the cookbook and people were laughing about it.

A woman said "I don't remember my Ancestor talking about the clam chowder they had on the Trail of Tears."

A man responded "She's only Cherokee until a mosquito lands on her."

Then years later we got the 1/1024 DNA results.

Perhaps she's never had a mosquito land on her.

Yep, never address the actual issue that Trump is intentionally lying.

I can only conclude that the right actually enjoys being lied to. It must be some form of intellectual masochism. "Oh yes! Tell me how high the wall is! Tell me who is going to pay for it!"

The right no longer has any values, they place all their value into Trump now. This is exactly how autocracies are born. The subset of the population who don't care if their leaders break the law as long as they say comforting "them vs us" statements will do literally anything to defend their dear leader.

It seems to me that the actual issue is that FaceBook has a mechanism to remove posts that FaceBook considers to be "lies" and does not apply that mechanism to all users equally. That takes FaceBook out of the category of being a social media site and moves them into the category of being a social engineering site. The MSM can report, "Well, everyone is saying [this] about Issue A ..." while ignoring the fact that everyone who says [that] about Issue A is being censored.
