I think it wasnt really expected. Cavuto just looked shocked when the show rolled over to him.

Smith just said this was his last broadcast.

All the reporters are "shellshocked" they are saying as they have to report.

Crazy!

Yea, I was watching it live as it happened... it seems he caught everyone off guard... its not health, and he said he wasn't moving to another network.....yet..... I'm curious where he's going.. he was definitely one of the liberal voices of Fox news, so MSNBC or CNN makes most sense..

His been hating his job for some time, he's changed.
The upper management kept it quiet.

Smith, in a statement, said he had asked Fox to be released from his contract. “Recently I asked the company to allow me to leave Fox News and begin a new chapter,” Smith said. “After requesting that I stay, they graciously obliged. The opportunities afforded this guy from small town Mississippi have been many. It’s been an honor and a privilege to report the news each day to our loyal audience in context and with perspective, without fear or favor. I’ve worked with the most talented, dedicated and focused professionals I know and I’m proud to have anchored their work each day — I will deeply miss them.”

Yea, he didn't play the game. I always admire someone who can operate in a place their views may not jive with, whether I agree with them or not.

Can't say I'll look highly on him though if he does this out of "Fox isn't shooting straight" just to go to another major network.

They're all the same disease.

The video is here: www.rawstory.com...

WOW!

Smith’s departure comes less than two days after Attorney General Bill Barr held a mysterious meeting with News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch. There is no evidence linking Barr’s Murdoch meeting to Smith’s sudden departure, although critics of the White House have been raising questions about why the attorney general was meeting with a media mogul at a time when Trump has been openly critical of the network.

So no one really wants Fox to be balanced eh?

Can't say I'm surprised.

To be fair, I don't really know what Smith has been up to the past few years, I haven't watched any Cable news network since before 16'.

Maybe he didn't like working for Rupert Murdoch and the push for globalism?

I wonder if he's getting out before the end of next week. That must be a large bit of bad news for the left.

Pro Tip:

If it comes from a news outlet on a TV, its propaganda - plain and simple. There exists no 'just did news and not opinion' when it comes from a TV.

Maybe Barr told Murdoch that Smith has a pending indictment !!

Or, it's sexual related 😧

Well this is a non-story if I ever saw one. He's been there since 1996, asked to be released from his contract to pursue other things, the company graciously said yes and released him from his contract. Nothing conspiratorial in any of this.

I'd imagine he's wealthy enough by now to do anything he wants to do, even if he just enjoys the rest of his life just enjoying life. He's definitely one of the good guys in the news of which few are left, but I hope he has a good life.
