#FLASH: An Iranian tanker has exploded near the Saudi port city of Jeddah. Terrorism is not being ruled out -
@Reurers / Iranian Media

Not much information, this has just flashed up. Chasing more links.
Jedah isn't far from Yemen, this could be related

RT reporting on it now also

Explosion rocks Iranian tanker near Saudi port city of Jeddah, oil spilling into Red Sea - reports

www.rt.com...

The only Iranian flagged tanker I can find in the area is this:

A tanker belonging to Iran’s government-owned oil corporation has reportedly been hit by a blast and caught fire in the Red Sea, 60 miles from Saudi Arabian shores. The incident is treated as a “terrorist act,” local media say.
The vessel, operated by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), has been sailing through the Red Sea when the explosion occurred, according to Iran’s semi-official ISNA news agency. The blast was powerful enough to damage two of its reservoirs, leading to an oil spill in the area.

Local media cited some unnamed Iranian “technical experts” believe that the incident could have been caused by a “terrorist attack,” but didn’t provide any evidence backing the claim.

That is the name of the vessel being reported.

So far, the sources quoted are from FARS or or ISNA...at least what I skimmed over...leaning to "terrorism".

Perhaps the Saudis.

Horrible for the environment with an oil spill.. I have sailed and scuba dived all over the Red Sea out of Jeddah .. Some of the most beautiful and at times dangerous diving I have ever done.

It will be interesting to see who gets blamed for this and what comes next.

Every report I read all goes back to ISNA as the source.

This will need to flesh out a bit more...

I think it's either Iran or Saudi (with the green light from the US)

Iran - because they're playing the US at their own game
Saudi - retaliation for the oil refinery, if thats the case I'd expect another few tankers to get hit - 1 isnt enough

Wouldn't surprise me the media will blame Saudi Arabia and the U.S. will face harsh criticism because they're our ally. However, when is more information is reveled it wouldn't surprise me other groups, or even Iran themselves, could have done this to fan the flames against Saudi Arabia and the West.

Yep, that was my first thought too. The Saudius won't want an all out war, but also can't just sit around and do nothing.

Couldn't it at least blow up completely? I guess that way would be way better for all the poor sea creatures.

They said retaliation for the Iranian oil refinery would take a few weeks to get things straightened out and plans passed with Wasington and Jerusalem.

Then again could it be the Kurds trying to start a regional war maybe it's their only hope as they are going to be crused by the Turks, Arabs, iranians right now

Who gets better by steering # in that part of the world right now? Saudhi?... Not sure. Iran false flag op.. timing not right. Who else?

Proxy war for Kurds would be my bet

I'd be willing to wager that the oil spill will be minimal.

If Iran did it to themselves, the tanker would not have much oil in it.

The fact this is/was only sourced by Iraninan State news, which managed to not even get the ship's name correct, I found suspect initially. In fact the KUDS reporting call the ship by name "Sanitized"..so two sources constantly called the ship the wrong name, one source named it wrong once.

Three names have been tossed about, one was right (or so it's said).
But they know for a fact it was missiles (or rockets) before they even got the ship names straightened-out.

Today, from ISNA, supposed today's pictures of the ship yet not one yet of any damage? etc. etc.

Sounds like a fire and nothing more unti evidenced or a really crappy attempt by Iran to falsify.
