I conducted the veting process for a couple of years for OPM. You would not believe the crazy sh*t people have done and still receive a TS. I couldn't stand seeing all our work uncovering these flags just to have the person get a pass, simply because they were willing to talk about it.

People that were directly affected by that breach posted on that thread. One poster said that they knew of insiders that were stealing data!

According to the complaint, between November 2014 and May 2015, Ahmed Almutairi, 30, of Saudi Arabia, and Saudi officials convinced the two men to use their employee credentials to access nonpublic information about the individuals behind certain Twitter accounts.

A former Twitter employee accused of spying for Saudi Arabia was ordered released on bond but will remain held at least temporarily because federal prosecutors say they plan to appeal.

Judge Paula L. McCandlis said Friday in Seattle federal court that Ahmad Abouammo could be released on bond with GPS monitoring and travel restrictions.

The information that was discussed had been a possible link from these "spies" and that reporter Jamal Khashogg getting killed, but the Judge let him out on bail anyways. The legal hold on him while the Feds try and get an injunction won't hold him for long since he is being held in Seattle Wa. I'm sure that the Democrats that control Western Washington will step in to help hold him (there isn't an emoji around that has the eye roll hard enough for that).

I wonder if the goddess Iustitia can do the whole #METOO thing too?

This was just before I started. The problem was that DoD was responsible for veting clearances. They did their job. This meant that the huge amount of applications became backed up while investigations were caried out. Pretty much we talked to just about everyone you ever knew and dug up everything we could find. This takes a lot of time and coordination among many people. The other stump was local agencies and private companies refusing to cooperate. We show up at the County Sheriff with a Fed ID/Badge and special release signed by the applicant asking the agency to release any and all docs, and about 30% of the time they won't. Everyone is terrified of being sued so, no one wants to get involved. So, the mass of paperwork backs up. Well, OPM comes along and takes over as people are waiting 2+ years to get their clearance. OPM then contracts out the work to private companies who hire any Joe that can type. And you end up with hundreds of brand new 'agents' across the country with a direct feed to thousands of social security numbers, birth dates, credit reports, and every detail of a person's life. And they are sitting at home printing this stuff out in mass. One guy was busted by FBI with a bunch of sensitive docs strewn all over the back seat of his car. Another person stoped to get gas and left the car and their gov laptop was stolen right there. And then to make matters worse, they run these companies like a mill pushing these people as far as they can go and when they burn out toss them aside for a new batch of 'agents'. A really bad set up and rife with issues and leaks. You can't protect information when your running a system this way.

Lasers can insert commands into home assistants. Researchers found they could "...surreptitiously cause them to unlock doors, visit websites, and locate, unlock, and start vehicles..."

The fact that the researchers don't know *why* this works is puzzling. Why would microphones be programmed to react to lasers?
This is kind of disturbing given the number of residences being turned into "smart" homes.
