I think that's giving the individual way too much importance. Not everything you experience has an effect on you.
Much of your personal narrative is just that: a story your brain fabricates to make sense out of the train of events you perceive. I seriously doubt the universe is a fiction library it's much more likely it only stores the quint essence, the naked information.
Because after all it's the fate of the species that matters and not so much at what time you used to wash the dishes.
