Musk says he’d know if aliens were out there - and they’re not.

The conspiracy side of me says this is him towing the NASA line - he has a big microphone and runs a Massive publicly traded company. If he opened his mouth and said “yep - they’re out there” he could tank the share price and discredit the people he sells his stuff to. So, keep it in the fairway and say “no aliens” and all is well.

Or, a cigar is just a cigar, and they aren’t out there or he hasn’t found them. Which could well be the truth.

So you don't accept his opinion but you want your opinion accepted. Your conspiracy side of you depends on the bs sold by every believer. And then you have the gall to badmouth NASA even though you're not smart enough to badmouth them. What is the NASA line, o learned one? What makes you think you are a superior thinker to Musk? He is The SpaceX and Tesla CEO. What equal position do you hold?

Wikipedi

is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and engineer.[4][5][6] He holds South African, Canadian, and U.S. citizenship and is the founder, CEO, and lead designer of SpaceX;[7] co-founder, CEO, and product architect of Tesla, Inc.;[8] co-founder of Neuralink; founder of The Boring Company;[9] co-founder and initial co-chairman of OpenAI;[10] and co-founder of PayPal. In December 2016, he was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World's Most Powerful People.[11] He has a net worth of $19.4 billion and is listed by Forbes as the 40th-richest person in the world.[3]

How dare you, a non-achiever, criticize a brilliant man? It sounds to me as if you are jealous.

No aliens exist. Prove Musk and me wrong.

My bet is that Musk does believe in ETs and Mars having been once a living planet. I suspect he intends on being the modern era "Tomb Raider" to find the secrets of Mars and Phobos and Deimos. Finding millennium-old tech would be tremendously more important than our supposed efforts to simply put humans in the dirt there for some unclear reason.

As far as we know, we are the only consciousness or the only life that’s out there. There might be other life, but we’ve seen no signs of it,” said Musk.

I agree.

I would change one word of that quote.
"Might" to "probably."

But I don't have as smart a brain as Elon. No car or rocket factories.

Go back and read my post.

Then read your post.

Then explain how you managed to come up with all of the nonsense you wrote.

Incorrect sir. For starters, there is overwhelming evidence that cephalopods also meet the requirements defining conciousness. It is also hypothesized by some that the octopus is fact an alien species.

Ok.
Two words, change "conscious" to intelligent.
Crap. Now I have to define intelligent.

No way. Let us start with the Cambridge Declaration of Conciousness as my first rebuttal.

I said I that if Elon had used two different words I would agree.
Without those modifications, I don't.

He builds rockets. It doesnt mean he has more insight than experiencers and researchers or access to all top secrets.

Musk says a lot of things. Exceptionally few of them are worth listening to.

His only real talent is shameless self promotion.

That pretty much sums it up.

He's like a cut rate steve jobs, with less success but an equally high amount of "branding" for relevance.

Y'all are just upset that he's backing Yang.

Sounds like something an alien would say.

Often hubris is the result of self admiration and self promotion, musk is pretty much like that but at other time's genius also goes hand in hand with Asperger's and even full blown autism.

This is demonstrated time and again throughout history, even old Einstein supposedly used to lose his way home on campus and would always forget his keys but that could just be one of them tales so to speak.

But on a side note.

Oh we do, we do hahahaha.

Sorry Phage I could not resist chirping in I usually just lurk as you know.

My take on it is this, Musk has an ulterior motive and that being that he want's to nuke Mars believing that it will free up CO2 in the Martian soil and by returning it to a gaseous state warm the planet enough for colonization (I assume the radiation suit's will be mandatory for those settlers) but if there is even a microbe found there then his plan's go down the crapper, not that he could get his hands on Nukes let alone fire them off on another planet but then again maybe he is just a frontman for some clandestine group.
I mean wasn't there a story about him not even knowing who Nikolae Tesla really was and claimed that he just chose the name because it sounded cool or something - though that could equally be crap I suppose.
I would dearly like to see how smart he really is by putting him out of his business element because a lot of those business types are really, really thick when it comes to technical task's just more clever than the rest of us were money is concerned, still I suspect he does have a decent brain - but that he is more like Eddison than he will ever be like the great Tesla as most of the inventiveness in his company does not come from him but from people whose names we shall never know because there work belongs to his company - don't get me wrong Eddison was the success (business man) but old Nikolae still has the biscuit in my opinion were the word Genius is concerned and history did Nikolae Tesla a great disservice.

A great pioneer and entrepreneur speaks and Elon is the Word. Apparently.
He knows as much as the rest of us...which is just theories and opinions.

"Musk further dashed the hopes of alien hunters..."
I'm sure he has.

A nothing article bigged up way more than it needed. My opinion has not changed because of it, except that I am now of the opinion that Musk has the 'glove puppet' hand up his ass.

It's not 'towing', it's 'toeing', as in putting your toes on the line and yes Musk is right there are no non-terrestrials coming here in person.

So, basically the title of this thread is missing final words along the lines of "... that we know of".

It's almost as if we're not expected to read what Musk actually SAID (ie a standard scientific response), and instead spend pages arguing over something he DIDN'T say...
