I called a friend of ours this morning around 08:00 to ask how things are going as she lives in Rouen about 1km away South from the fire and she can
see it from where she lives.
She has told me that practically the whole of the North of the city is on lockdown with all bridges and main roads closed (all schools closed) and
residents within a 500 metre distance have been told to stay indoors...
500 BLOODY METRES!!!!
She called back her parents who live in a small community just outside of the North of Rouen called "Bois Guillaume" around 08:46 and her parents told
her that it is still night time where they live due to the smoke (The town is about 18 kms away)
Firemen are saying that they are witnessing burning liquids similar to burning and slow running lava.
Due to slight winds the smoke is going over Rouen in a Northern direction right now and not looking good at all.
Rain is expected this afternoon, which is not good in a way as this will bring all the toxic soot down...
What pisses me off big time is that the media are saying that initial toxicity results say that there are
no worries concerning acute toxicity for
the moment and that other toxicity tests will be done during the day...
Reminds me a little of the Mitterand days when his government said that the Chernobyl cloud stopped at the border...
I have advised my friend to take the day (or a couple off) and go further south until all is clear.
Its not looking good in Rouen right now.
