That ‘handle’ isn’t a handle. It’s one side at an unexpected perspective. Just a plain rock.

I looked at lots of pictures of rocks that were ground into shapes by the ancient people and have found some here. The other Mars pictures could look a lot like natural formations, this however looks like it actually does have a handle and is the right shape for an urn. I tried to look at how it could be misinterpreted and the logical choice is that this is a jug.

Either this video is made up or the rover that took this picture is here on earth. Maybe the Mars rover calved out shortly after landing, or maybe someone actually created their own video to look like it was an official rover. The creator of this video could have made the video, how could we know. Or NASA could have a rover here on earth that was taking pictures.

Maybe that's not a jug. Maybe that's a martian. Maybe that's how they really are. Keep you mind open. Why not.

And here's the spoon that goes with it:

And a nice, bone-handled knife:

And an amphora with the handles knocked off:

Never could quite figure out what these are, though. Some kind of burrito?

I knew I left it somewhere. Coffee's cold too.

Meh, I don't want it anymore. You can keep it, Martians.

Ack Ack.

There is light coming through where the handle is.

So if it is a rock, its a rock with a handle.

Those rovers are not on Mars. Never have been. Their on Australia.

Not true!

Australia's just a myth, created to trick people into believing the earth is a globe.

No, there's no light coming through.
If there was we would see the shadow of the handle on the cup's surface on the areas the handle connects to the cup, and we do not see that. What I think we are seeing is some kind of "bas relief" on that rock's surface, so we see the shadow inside that lower area.

Here's the original NASA image.

Huh, gotta say, it's better than the average Martian maybe rock. There have been a few that raise, at the least, possibilities.

I have to say, though, it's disappointing that the secret space program might've been caught littering.

I think you are 100% correct.

It looked like a handle to me too. But looking at the image you posted and reading your explanation it is clear that we are looking at the side of a rock that light is hitting. That side of the rock has a depression/crack down the middle of it. Making a shadow down the middle of that side of the rock.

This thread is giving me depression.

There are better finds on Mars than this.

It's difficult to scour the images now, because JPL decided to "update the curiosity image page to be more web 2.0ey!"
All they did was screw it up, for consecutive image viewing.

They slowed down my workflow of looking through the images, to the point that I gave up on it.
If there are some secrets there, that they did this to help obscure... You can keep your secrets NASA, I don't care.

You just have to wait until the images are published on the Planetary Data System.

Then, not only can you look at them in a more logical way you can also look at the best versions available instead of the automatic JPEG conversions most people know.

Well if there on Australia, how come we rarely see boomerangs just laying about? Obviously cant be in Australia or there would be boomerangs everywere. Maybe that particular rover landed in newzealand or Nevada or something.

Which just means they missed the launch to Mars by quite a lot. About a 140 million miles miss. Oh well mistakes do happen.
