3 dead, 4 hospitalized in Pittsburgh after ‘medical situation’; victims wearing orange wrist ban

Five victims were found in an apartment on the city’s south side, the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department said.
One was found in an elevator outside the apartment and another was discovered on a street corner at 26th and Carson.
All the victims were wearing orange paper wristbands, police said.

I say that jokingly, but really, if you're going to do drugs, don't do weird drugs. If you're going to do weird drugs, do them at one of those places where they offer free harm reduction testing.

Seems an oktoberfest at some brewery was this weekend. Looking for other activities in Pittsburgh this weekend...

There were no initial signs of drug paraphernalia or needles on the victims

What if the paper orange wrist bands contain the drug?
Soak the bands in the drug and when the wearer of the band starts to sweat then it could absorb through the wrist.

Penn brewery's oktoberfest seems to have been using blue and red wristbands for their festival this weekend so they seem to be out...

Right here in the Burgh... ATS is the first I'm hearing of this.

Being it's the south side, there's night clubs all up and down Carson street. Heroin/fentanyl is bad down there too, not saying that's the cause of death's. But note worthy. Honestly this sounds typical of the Southside on a Friday Sat night.

Some more info from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette -

All victims were male, were middle-aged and wearing orange wristbands, police confirmed.

In a statement, a public relations firm that represents the apartment building said the victims were not residents of the building.

“We express our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the affected individuals and send our thoughts and prayers to those who were transported to the hospital,” the release said.

“It is important to note that the individuals that were involved in the incident were not residents of our community,” the release said. “These were acquaintances of a good standing resident, who apparently was not in the apartment at the time the individuals were found.”

The statement added: “It is our understanding that the group had attended an outside event where they may have consumed a toxic substance before returning to the apartment.”

My initial thought was teenagers or young adults, but all middle aged?

Edit: my other assumption is there is a distributor in the building. Hence the cops not saying to much as COD and the dead are not residents. Seems this building and a couple others down there have come up in the recent past.

every big festival or concert i go to, now has wristbands.

they give you wristbands even at small places, if you are over 21, so the bartender knows you can drink.

It is interesting that they were all middle-aged. If no others turn up, it could be they brought their own (whatever it was) from outside, and it wasn't a widespread thing that many at the event were partaking in.

Either way, unless its something they made themselves, probably a likelihood there's more of it out there to be distributed.

Plot twist....

We're a few weeks into NFL and they didn't pay their gambling debt.

Just kidding, most likely xtc as Bigburgh pointed out.

The base drug is molly, which by itself and pure is relatively safe.

Xtc however is a mixture up to the maker. Sometimes they mix uppers and downers which is just asking for heart problems especially mixed with sweating and consuming alcohol.

All Middle aged men whom didn't live at the apartment complex but were visiting someone who wasn't home at the time??
