My question is - why now? Why not when he was first seeking leadership?

There is an election. Trudeau is seeking a second term. Why has this *suddenly" been uncovered in 2019? Why not in 2015?

We just wanted him for legalizing weed back then, we're done with him and his wacky weird wokeness now. Hopefully his party loses the election and he'll have all the time he needs to run around playing Mr.Dressup come Oct.21

Between this disrupting the Liberals and the PPC dividing the Conservatives, it looks like the political landscape is on the verge of a change in Canada.

It's concocted outrage. Blacking faces is not racist unless the intent is racist. A very small proportion of society need to get a dose of the real world and leave the echo chamber.

If Trudeau was honest and transparent, he would have revealed these transgressions himself.

I have no clue how the Brits react to blackface. You would need to ask a European.

Morris Dancers here in The U.K. " black up " No one seems to mind. Not that i know of anyway.

The Beltane Border Morris goes back to 1584

Trudeau had not exposed the depths of his hypocrisy last time.

If Trudeau, and his party, had not gone after other past transgressions, from other party members, so fervently, I doubt he would be facing this issue right now.

Now, those other party leaders are demanding that Trudeau act upon himself the same way he acted upon others.

Not that it will matter. We don't vote for the best, we vote for the least worst, and Trudeau is still the least worst...for now.

It was kind of weird to see the leader of a country admit to a mistake and apologize though. Not used to seeing that.

They do. In some gatherings ignorant people have complained about black-face Morris Dancers. Tradition offends, even when the reason for blackfacing has got sod all to do with race.

Back in the 1700s people blackfaced themselves to protest. Hence the Black Act. These people were not pretending they were black people, but I suppose someone needs to come forward and apologise.

Not from this leader...
He apologizes for terrorists on the regular.

When did blackface become a big no no in the news?
Long after 2015 I think...

There is no statute of limitations on racism....impeach!

Back in 2009 we got Harry Connick jnr to cry a bit when he was a guest on an old show here called Hey Hey It's Saturday, with a 20 year reunion of an act that did a skit called the Jackson Jive, donning black face. He demanded the host make a formal apology and the news went global...

The irony is the group, all from various ethnic backgrounds, was lead by an Indian doctor, who portrayed Michael Jackson and he painted his face white, lol.. still, das raysis..

Est quod est, I guess.

Hmm, yeah. AFTER the story came out.
Might have been better for him to mention it BEFORE he started preaching to everyone else.

Thank god Trudeau handled it the way he has. We might get lucky and get a nice minority government.

I'm guessing that the TPTB along with the MSM have decided to get rid of Trudeau. It's a shame that they have the power to do that but they are manipulating the masses. I don't particularly like Trudeau but I despise political manipulation. Hopefully Canadians can vote their conscience, not the media parrot.

A distraction from this perhaps?

Canada: 'Much more to be told' on Trudeau scandal, says minister who quit

I haven't been following Canadian politics closely. Has Jane Philpott been telling "much more" or did that somehow go away?

She is effectively muzzled although the RCMP did interview her recently. Right after JT dropped the writ and they may not investigate till after the election. It would really be a mess if he was reelected and then charged.

Because someone close to him was just charged with having child porn and running a ring.

I've just recently returned from the land of Twitter and I think it should be pointed out that since yesterday the woken people and the bastion of journalism known as the Daily Beast have decreed that this is not a case of blackface but just ordinary, innocent face darkening.
