It is just politics, not people. Trump is screwing with Pelosi and the CA leadership.

This is probably the only answer.

When do the responsible people of a particular society have a right to maintain standards at a community level? They are not forcing the homeless to live their lifestyle of defeat and hatred of life. Some of the things the homeless are doing seems like active warfare on those who are trying to be a functioning member of a community.

Life isn't easy. If you wage warfare against a peaceful populace, being put into a facility that will shelter and feed you along with running water and sanitation could be considered a kindness. You still have full free will, if you don't want to be a member of said sanitarium, become a responsible adult. If you don't have the mental facilities to become a functioning adult, maybe being cared for wouldn't be that bad of a thing?

This sign was found and posted on facebook today by a business owner in Venice who has had a bum repeatedly cut his chain link fence and move his crap up the side of his building. You're right it's war.

I actually think this is a step in the right direction. I can't stand the orange Kool aid man but I give credit where credit is due and stepping up to clean up the homeless problems plaguing the west coast is long overdue. Now if he could call for mental health, alcohol and drug rehabs for drug offenders I will really be impressed.

This here sounds bogus to me, instead of being diplomatic and offering to help they dangle a carrot and turn it into a partisan issue. Ben Carson is Trump's puppet and probably rewrote a trump tweet for his message. Why can't they step in with the funds and work with the Californian government to make sure the funds are allocated fairly? Instead they spew a bunch of wolf whistles to have their base foam more at the mouth about the illegal immigration issue. I spoke too soon when I went to give the Trump administration kudos for their latest move. It seems nothing the Trump camp does comes from the heart and love for all americans, instead they use every opportunity to try to belittle anything blue.

Awesome. Homelessness etc is a huge problem and perhaps its time for the Feds to step in and give the states a hand!

But

This is just political theater for a guy that is at war with California and nothing more.

Now maybe Health and Human services should be working with all of the states and enact a program that deals with homelessness rather than single out a city POTUS has an issue with

So, you are OK with a State picking and choosing which laws they will comply with and which ones they won't? Laws aren't suggestions, they are the law. What could possibly be wrong with withholding assistance until they obey ALL the laws that the other States do? Seems like a pretty reasonable request, "feelings" be damned.

BTW I live here, have all my life. Many areas are indeed sh*tholes now, nice areas are becoming unsafe. Screw Newsom and the rest, they've almost killed this state. And sorry, the super majority is blue. Own it.

Yes but states also have the rights as well even if the Federal Government want to push their agenda on them.

Thats my issue. We need to deal with the issue but this is not it. This is a political move pure and simple.

If he was serious his puppet Mr. 20K for a table Carson would have been looking for solutions for ALL of the states, not sending in the EPA

Immigration law is Federal law. I fail to see how striving for secure borders and orderly LEGAL immigration is pushing an "agenda". It's just common sense - something the democrat leaders in this state don't recognize.

Its how you secure those borders is one such subject and note that California has not stopped the feds from their enforcement. However they do not need to cooperate either. Same with pot etc. The feds can come in and raid if they chose but the state officials will do nothing.

But its one thing to secure the borders its another to pander to a base that thinks throwing up a wall is going to fix the issue. But we are drifiting off topic

There are many reasons for the homelessness epidemic -- chiefly a lack of affordable housing --...

The main reason for homelessness is mental illness which our country does very little to address.

Years ago, they sent people with mental illness to live in a sanatarium.

Now they closed most of those places and people wonder why nutbags are crapping on the sidewalks.
Sometimes mainstreaming isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

This is true. We went from tucking them away under psychological/medical care (albeit, often grossly sub-standard) to unleashing them into probably the worst possible environment for themselves and others.

Our nation's politicians and the populace became too short-sighted and small-minded to realize the value to our society of operating mental hospitals. All that was seen was a line item with a cost and no obvious return on investment.

I'm not sure San Fran should be punished for their homeless problem but it surely is an issue that needs looked into.

I dont understand why California and the city's leaders haven't already done something or asked for help.

They could always ask China for help at throwing up some sky scrappers , and they might not fall into their own footprint

I remember when conservatives used to cry for states rights and would have whined like a yellow dog if Obama had of done what bonespurs is attempting to usurp a state government.

If the " Elected Officials " in Any State in OUR Union can somehow not Govern the People according to Constitutional Law , then the American People of ALL 50 States Should Demand they Resign ASAP , or Face Criminal Prosecution .
