Pennsylvania state senator charged with child porn possession

Pennsylvania state Sen. Michael Folmer (R) was arrested and charged Tuesday with possession of child pornography.

State Attorney General Josh Shapiro (D) said the arrest was the result of an investigation that started with a CyberTip report that Tumblr had discovered a user had uploaded child pornography using its application.

The investigation led to Folmer’s home, where authorities with the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section, Lebanon City Police Department and U.S. Department of Homeland Security found images of child pornography on his phone Tuesday.

Absolutely horrific that this man was re-elected 4 times, served 16 years as Senator for PA's 48th district.

You know, I would take stories like this a lot more seriously if you didn't bold the (R) in the excerpt and then repeat it in your statement. Whether or not the offender was Republican, Democrat, or whatever is irrelevant except as a curiosity. What matters is the child porn charge. The dude needs to be in prison if guilty, not in power.

Is your point that (R)=bad man or that a politician was charged with such a heinous crime?

This is something that really irritates me

All political parties or ideologies will have terrible fringe people in them; that shouldn’t be used to smear the whole group

Now if a huge proportion of a group is made up of these people, or if the group defends or makes excuses for these fringe people, then it’s worth criticizing the group

This mans crimes are no more indicative of republicans in general any more than bill clintons behavior is indicative of democrats.

I would never try to smear all democrats for the actions of fringe criminals in their ranks

The letter (R) was in the original article and the Republican Senator was in fact a Republican.

Those are simple facts.

Take note I have not constructed any conspiracy involving the Republican Party at large and Pizza Restaurants.

I think perhaps that faulty paradigm is what has created the bug in your processing.

Can't find a long list of recently convicted democrat pedophiles. Someone (factually) post one, there must be some.

Both sides should abhor this behaviour and shouldnt see it as political point scoring.
Maybes, however if people spent more time looking at the very real cases rather than child sex dungeons on mars (q) this would unravel quicker.

Good day for PA.

Aggressive investigations and prosecution of pedophiles is always a good thing.

PA is cleaning house.

What makes this wildly infuriating is that this State Senator apparently successfully opposed a bill extending the statute of limitations for child sexual abuse (Catholic Church).

So they find pics on his phone and that makes him an instant pedo?
If he is? Hang him.
But - is there a way someone could have put those pics on there just to make him look bad?
Just wondering.
