So I know I'm in the minority here, but I like my steak well well done.

I went to a nice restaurant. I asked for my steak well done. Many chefs do not like to cook steak like that. I got
my steak back and it was slightly burnt and charred around the edges, chef thought he got me. Little did the chef know I loved it, absolutely loved it.
I love it so much I wrote a review to let other well done steak lovers that this place knows hows to do it. ha!

I've had steak from rare to burnt. I don't like juice coming out, I don't like to see red or pink. I don't like that mineral taste, or that texture.
I don't care how many people tell me that I am ruining it, to me i'm not.

Maybe it is pushed so much because the powers that be want people to have a taste for blood, for the raw, for the life source?
I can't stand it.

It’s chewy

Nothing wrong with a well done steak if you like That, how I preferred my meat when I was younger. Now, don’t really care how it’s cooked
Lamb chops are better

do u remoisturize it with anything? isn't medium already past the point of no return??

not a meat eater, but seen how dry bovine flesh gets one it's past medium.

then theres the cancer causing chems maybe someone here can provide the names of em, when meat burns/chars, similar to when non-meats burn too.. acrylamides, amines, hydrocarbs or something?

The only good well done steak is a slow cooked one. Where the meat falls apart. Other than that, it’s chewy, dry and repugnant.

You asked what's wrong with well-done then proceed to tell us that you like it. That's fine, but do you want an answer to your question, or do you just want us to know how you like it?

In answer to your question, if I accidentally cook well-done steak I consider that a failure in my cooking expertise. Well-done is too tough, too dry, and almost without flavor. I wouldn't even feed it to my dog. Medium Rare is just right. Cooked, but moist and flavorful. Medium still has some red in the middle, but it is basically over-cooked.

A NOTE OF WARNING! Medium Rare in the Pacific Northwest (at least) is NOT THE SAME as Medium Rare in the Midwest. To us Northwestern folks (and, I think the entire west coast) Medium Rare in the Midwest is the same as Rare to us. The same is true of a steak at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. They use a VERY high temperature oven the cooks steak extremely fast, and they use the Midwestern terminology. I owe this knowledge to a waitress in Great Lakes, Illinois, who pegged us as outsiders and when I ordered Medium Rare she said, "That's not really what you want. It's different here"

This is one of them.

I’ve asked the staff to ban you from the entire internet may god have mercy on your soul.

When I order a steak:

"Just knock it's horns off and wipe it's ass.."

Seriously... medium rare is the only way to go. Pink and warm center. Charred/burnt on outside.

Best steak I've had recently was at Maestro's in Chicago. Absolutely perfect.

But what you are talking about technically isn't a steak anymore.

It's jerky.

Just... no

The perfect steak is well marbled with fat...it is slow cooked with a pot of Vegetables....the steak is removed....set aside for pet food...and the OH SO BEAUTIFUL FAT....is cherished and enjoyed for the critical component of our diets that it is....the fat reduces brain inflammation...eating the flesh contributes to inflammation....there is nothing wrong with a well done steak as long as you cherish the beautiful fat....well done is GOOD it means you have squeezed the steak for all of the golden goodness it has to gift you.

Why is this in the General Conspiracy forum?

The majority of people that eat steak prefer it to be medium well and down ..It comes down to taste and preference vs any nefarious conspiracy where TPTB want us to have a taste for blood..lulz.

Nothing is wrong with it if it's what you like.

Do whatever you want.

If you aren't trying to "force" others to like what you like then I don't see why anyone cares. I've had well done steak and liked it in certain instances.

I've taken expensive scotch and used it in scotch and soda's(not the whole bottle, but some). I know the "right" way, but sometimes I'll do what I feel like if it's what I like. I'm not telling anyone else to do it that way, so what does it matter.

It's responses like this that prove the "experts" are actually the idioperts. If a human being likes his or her steak well done, then THAT is the correct choice. Telling someone they "don't know steak" (which sounds completely retarded, BTW), is clearly a sign of someone who has no idea how things truly work in the real world.

I like my steak medium rare (the actual medium rare, you steak idiopert, just in case you were about to call me out for not understanding what medium rare actually means, which I absolutely do). BUT, I have also enjoyed a nice well done steak when it happened. I wouldn't choose it on a regular basis, but if someone did, I wouldn't tell them they were wrong, you steak gatekeeping idopert.

Killing cows is cool, btw.

Yep, it's chewy and has more of a pan or charred taste versus the real taste of the cut of meat. The charred taste is also quite good it's really up to the person but you can get that flavor on anything.

It's similar to how many people think rare steak is gross and any pink or blood remnant in the middle of a medium is gross. They equate it to undercooked, gross like eating raw dead animal. They don't know or think about how the temperature was hot enough to "fully cook" it (kill anything in it).

Other people are just raised that way and stay that way. My mother was big on well done but loved steak. I grew up eating a lot of well done steak. In fact, I choked on a chewy piece of well done fat or gristle at a restaurant when I was maybe 6 and needed a heimlick maneuver.

When I got into cooking and was outside of her influence, I noticed that I loved the flavor of beef itself and a medium rare or a medium suited me perfectly. I started with medium well because of my upbringing though and naturally changed.

I had 2 colonoscopies within 3 months and had a total 19 polyps removed because of too much grilled red meat.
