It seems ever since 2016 this forum has gotten more and more right wing!

I am a libertarian and non conformist and I welcome all beliefs but I couldn’t help but notice that right wing ideology has become more prevalent on here in the recent years.

As a matter of fact I was a long time lurker on here since 2010.

It seems like ATS was way more chill in the earlier parts of this decade.

Where are all the hippies and libertarians?

Maybe out drinking beer on a summer evening.

Right and left mean nothing these days.
Look at, say, brexit, all the remain media portray it as right wing, yet every,actual socialist group in the UK is vehemently anti EU.

Most of those described as the left are actually bourgeois, middle class in policy, a lot of what is portrayed as right wing, like increases in domestic industrial capacity are left wing, almost to the point of being Keynesian

Could it perhaps be that the left wing have become so irrational and ignorant of reality that there are simply more people people seeing it and speaking against it?

Is what you see as right wing on here, not just the result of overt left wing arrogance? Thinking they can lie, cheat, steal and glamour the masses with such tricks? And those of us who are not falling for it, and speaking up - labelled all manner of worthless things in the process - now considered right wing, these days? Seems to me to be the case...

That sounds like exactly what a conformist would say. A lot of old libertarians switched to the right because of Trump. It was nice to have some of Obama’s authoritarian policies reversed (e.g. Obamacare and globe lightbulbs).

you do know that republicans controlled the ENTIRE congress for 6 of those 8 years that Obama was in office. trump and republicans can't stand the fact our first black president did so well.... one good thing trump has done for Obama, he made Obama look even better than the petulant child we now have in the white house.....

It’s a conspiracy site and people who are wary of the government, see things alternately to msm propaganda, believe there are hidden agendas and generally live in an alternative sub culture come here to learn, report or voice their concern

As a fairly long term member...the biggest exodus' of Leftists from ATS happened in two phases.


Exodus #1-- Hillary LOST after being guaranteed, by the MSM, a 90% chance of winning.

Exodus #2-- Mueller's YUGE failure to get Trump...after being told multiple times...daily...by the MSM...that Trump was about to be arrested for treason.

The Left lost faith and trust in their longtime propaganda outlets...Lucy pulled the football away from them one too many times.

Essentially, as a result of unflinching trust in FAKE NEWS for so long...the Left lost their access to any reliable ammunition...and those that stayed on ATS, instead of slinking away, are now only bringing knives to gunfights.

It's hard to debate policy with Republicans.

When Obama golfed, they didn't like it. Trump golfs, no problem.
When Obama spent money, they cried about debt and deficits. Trump is runnin up more than a TRILLION deficit this year. Not a word.
Obama misspeaks about 57 states, it's the end of the world. Trump misspeaks all the time. No biggie.

Trump alters an official government map because of his ego, and all the Republicans do is defend. If Obama put up a map with those seven states drawn in with a sharpie, well, you get it.

It's hard to debate anything with people who don't care if they are hypocrites and tribal.

We, those of us who don't follow Trump like sheep, are still here, but commenting has just become useless. So occasionally I wait for a good science topic or alien thread to keep me here.

And yes, this site is a Trump Echo Chamber now. Fear not, it will not always be this way, if this site survives.

It's conformation bias now more than ever, you hate Trump, you are pigeon holed as a "leftard" and vice versa, but it leans more to the Trump cheerleaders it seems.
