Is "The West" being killed off by Oxytocin?

Oxytocin was discovered in 1906.

Oxytocin's molecular structure was determined in 1952.

We know about oxytocin. It is nothing new. But the following cropped up again:

Oxytocin and social norms reduce xenophobia

Researchers at University Hospital Bonn have shown in a new study that the bonding hormone oxytocin together with social norms significantly increases the willingness to donate money to refugees in need, even in people who tend to have a skeptical attitude towards migrants. The results are published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

An increase in this hormone may basically have gone hand in hand with immigration and tolerance of immigration.

Am I saying the increase in this hormone may have caused this? No. But the study and others like it show that the increase in this hormone increases the willingness to help others, even if it could be detrimental to your entire part of the world.

So, will "The West" be killed off by oxytocin?

As an aside, could oxytocin levels be actually manipulated in the future by some hitherto nonexistent technology or procedure? Or could we literally see a weapon of mass affection used, some sort of "oxytocin weapon"? In Nazi Germany, for example, it would not be surprising if oxytocin levels were manipulated to promote in-group bonding and out-group aggression (see the oxytocin and chimp study - Oxytocin surge before a fight helps chimps bond with their group)

Since it is a naturally occurring hormone it has a receptor. Which means something could be made to fit that receptor on purpose or accidentally. The original Red Dye #5 used mostly in processed meats fit the estrogen receptor causing early breast development in girls and pre-pubescent boys.

Oxytocin does more than make you cuddle. It also gives trips down memory lane with a bias based on current mood. So while it can ease the unfamiliarity aspects to say xenophobia if you are calm and relaxed, it can also exaggerate them if under general stress or anxiety to point of feeling threatened.

If true then why is there a split in people's opinion on migrants and refugees?

Where does Oxytocin come from? How are people's levels being raised?

This is far too vague for serious consideration.

It appears that it really only affects Liberals.
They could pump my house with it 24/7/365 and it still wouldn’t change my mind.

There's zero possibility of oxytocin of all things destroying a nation. I suppose if you didn't really know or understand the strength or lack thereof of it and were looking for a conspiracy on why people think differently than you and have different opinions, you might pick this hormone.

No, there's nothing out of whack, our food isn't being diabolically pumped full of oxytocin in a liberal agenda by conservative owned meat, dairy & produce companies. Strangely, humans are pretty even keel in the brain chemistry department as they've been through recent centuries and millenia.

A lot of crazy people it seems? The population density has increased seemingly exponentially for the past 5,000 years. In 3000 BC, it's estimated that there were 14 million people on the planet. In 2017, It was estimated at 7.5 billion. Where's the conspiracy there? Oxytocin increase caused everyone to have more sex?

Could this not go both ways? If it helps in-group bonding and out-group aggression could it not make certain groups lash out more than they normally would against immigration? It would depend on what the social norms are for a particular group, if it's socially normal for a group to hate all illegals then it could work in reverse.
