Carrying capacity is not a static number; it is always changing. And for humans it changes by technology. There is no magic number that equals too many people. Our carrying capacity is elastic...

What changes, as Rosling points out here, is when mothers feel their children are safe, they increase time between pregnancies, and then lower the total number of pregnancies. It's a survival mechanism, and will enable them to survive the population explosion.
