No, socialism is not a good thing.

It inhibits excellence and ensures shared misery.

Tell that to Israel and the scandinavian countries. Israel in particular is a world leader in both education and innovation. People dont need to worry about the basics so they can get on with their lives and pursue higher things.

Its much easier to have a college eduction in a socialist country its like everyone has a scholarship. You can go to class instead of having to do double shifts just to be able to afford the tuition.

Socialism seems to be pretty good for Japan, too. Again its a world leader in education and innovation.

France, Germany and the UK also seem to be doing pretty well under socialism.

In contrast Americans are spending decades paying off student debt, and the infant mortality rate in America is almost 20 years behind most other first world countries.

LOL, the ignorance is astounding.

Israel is not socialist. Japan is not socialist. Scandinavia is not socialist. It's a giant lie meant to fool people like you. Furthermore, even if the countries you listed were socialist, they'd be poor examples. Japans economy has been roiled with trouble for 40 years. The Scandinavian countries social programs are going bankrupt. Israel started socialist and was good buddies with the USSR. They've moved away from that because it provided a similar lifestyle to other communist nations of the 70's (iow, starvation). In fact Israel is still paying interest on the loans they took to bail themselves out of the failure that was their socialist experiment.

You do realize that government funded education is not "free" right? It means instead of being able to pay off those student loans one day, you pay for them in perpetuity in taxes. Not only that, you don't get to opt out. If you don't go to college you get to pay for everyone else that decides to do so with your taxes.

Do you really believe that the US has more dead babies because of medical care than other nations? Not that we are impatient and have far more inductions and cesarian deliveries for personal reasons? Not that we are able to deliver babies that are 21 weeks and actually have shot at them living, so they count against us where other countries don't report those?
