I don't believe they could possibly care about us to condition us for anything.

But snF

I do so love to read your posts Lab. You seem to have a reasoned approach to most of the topics I have seen you responding to, not going off to either side of any question but staying more to the center offering pros and cons on what ever issue is being discussed in a thread.

In this thread you point out that some here might be more psychologically immune to much of the effects of gaming but others with out that fortitude can likely not be so well prepared to avoid the mesmerizing effects that are built into many of these games.

I'll be upfront and give the disclaimer that I work for one of the biggest Triple A game companies in the world .

That being said why stop with Video Games? You can literally find every form of entertainment being capable of having both positive and negative impacts on consumers of that content.

As previously mentioned by others in the thread in my opinion people that are influenced by video games are most likely easier to influence from any content. I don't think that video games are inherently bad but rather that the majority of people , like anything in life, can play any type of game without issue but there are people where gaming like drinking, music, drugs, any thing else can become consuming.

Most people get their craziest ideas from their ignorant parents.

Life imitates art, and art imitates life. Certainly wouldnt be surprised if, somewhere along the way, that relationship was used to achieve predictable results.

Something like the communicators in the original Star Trek, or the replicators, shape how we think about the things we create in the future. Kind of a cool, organic relationship really..

An idea gets pulled from the field of possibilities through imagination and art. Down the line, that idea solidifies into the real world, and then we try to keep what is good while repeating the process. Totally different kinds of people playing completely different roles, but all working together.

Hijacking that process wouldnt be particularly difficult.

I'll bet there are many gamers that would prefer to live in Tron-like universe than their parent's basement.

Just remember in terms of dystopian future there's a reason why Hunger Games was greatly more popular than The Giver.

There you have it. The employment opportunities for humans in the future are limitless. As long as the carpel tunnel syndrome doesn't get you.

Would you agree though that being in a game the day can suddenly be gone?

I remember years ago in a group task there was a young woman who said "I need to go, I have to cook dinner my husband will be home in an hour." Well she didn't go and she said "my kids are begging for food just a sec. She came back and said she gave her little ones peanut butter sandwich for dinner "again" and told them to watch TV.

Then she said oh man they fell asleep on the sofa again I need to cover them, they have been falling asleep there every night I need to get off this game...but she didn't. He husband came home and fixed himself something to eat.

Video games are overwhelmingly targeted towards minors/children, even the ones marketed towards mature audiences.. Yes, those minds are very easily influenced. They also eventually become adults. Are you seeing the connection now?

At $60 a pop, your targeting adults. Not children, if threatened industry depended on kids it would be broke. Especially with t he today's micro transactions and subscriptions. Parents will only spend so much money on their children. But adult manchildren will spend a lot more on them selves.

As an adult in the age of triple A games I buy far more for myself than my parents brought for me when games were much cheaper.

It no different then movies made during the Cold War, all the while Alien Shooters are very popular these days.

Maybe if we are lucky, our alien overlords may think it cute.

Except your first line isn't something that either I or the numbers agree with: www.statista.com...

I can also tell you that the age of the constant tours that take place on our main campus disagree with you.
I can also tell you that the age of the people that attend the major gaming convention we do disagree with you.

I've been a gamer since aged 9, 30 years ago and can see the evolution of it, my boy 3 plays starlit and rayman, both littered with occult symbology, it's in every single game I play and this thread has just made me wonder if the old games I used to play like mario bros, sonic or the Likes of dizzy have occult symbology.
I believe gaming not only conditions the brain but also builds it and evolves it and sure tptb want a piece of that, secret chiefs or secret thiefs, it matters not cause I see their game.
And it's all headed somewhere.

I knew those Fortnite dances were nothing but an invocation of the abominable Great Old One, Cthulhu.

They are using video games for now..and for the generation to come. Children as early age 4 gowing up with shoot them up video games will get wired in some way....I believe. If they are not able to connect with reality while growing up and circumstances are unfavourable strange anti-social shootings/ crimes can occur. (if they have access to a gun of course) It is a perfect tool to condition for all kinds of things..it becomes really scary if there is subliminal stuff embedded.
