The original Prince song performed by Sinead O Connor is nice too, and this version isn't entirely different,but Chris just takes it to another place. Many may have heard this song but I jump at the chance to share this guy's voice to those who might not know. It still gives me goose bumps.

The cover surpassed the original but this one always struck me as weird cause Blondie covered it only a few years after the original was released and the original was in a similar genre as well.

And I know not the point of the thread but here's two where the original outshines the cover...

Incredible, what a loss to the world.


One of my fave covers

First, there was this. Complete with the laser that got them in a bit of trouble BITD.



Then, years later, an album titled Imaginos was done by what was called BOC but really wasn't. It's a long story so I wont bother with that but the Wiki page has a decent synopsis of what went down. It's one helluva interesting story.



I'm curious as to which you guys prefer.

The second one sucks. You can't beat the original lineup of BOC.

I actually saw the tour with the laser light show, BOC was awesome back then, saw them a few times over the years. The laser show I saw had Black Oak Arkansas and Head East opening, killer show.

Well, I prefer the second one. That was my introduction to the song and while I do dig the original I think Buck's voice suits the song much better and that driving beat always gets me.

All good, just seamed a bit to polished compared to the original. Maybe after a few listen it might grow on me. I’ll give it another shot.
