When it comes to âthe old oligarchsâ we refer to those who gained their wealth mainly during the 90s and continued to be the richest people in the country for many years up until now. âNovoe Vremyaâ magazine defined 10 businessmen who remained in the top 20 richest people in the country for 11 years. They are those who can be considered âthe old oligarchsâ. They are Rinat Akhmetov, Victor Pinchuk, Kostyantyn Zhevago, owners of Privat Group (Ihor Kolomoyskyi, Gennadiy Bogolyubov, Oleksiy Martynov), Yuriy Kosiuk, Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, Dmytro Firtash and of course the current President, Petro Poroshenko This list is incomplete because Surkis brothersor Vadym Novynskyi appeared in such ratings much less frequently. However, the same principle of âenrichment during the 90sâ should be applied to them. Therefore, they can also be categorized as âthe old oligarchsâ, as long as they maintain their wealth and influence on Ukrainian politics. It is important to note that we do not include Serhiy Taruta, Yulia Tymoshenko and Viktor Medvedchuk in this list. Let us explain our logic.
The name of the company wasNewport Management Limited -- and until 2016, nobody at UEFA had apparently made a serious effort to discover who was behind Newport. Or perhaps no effort was wanted. Now, though, the "internal memo" documented the unsettling suspicion that the man who controlled Newport was none other thanIgor Surkis, one of the most influential oligarchs in Ukraine.
From May 28 to Sept. 1, 2014, 42 companies registered in the Dnipropetrovsk region of eastern Ukraine transferred $1.7 billion to three firms registered in Britain and three in theBritish Virgin Islands, according to claims submitted by the 42 companies to the regionâs commercial court.
With a loan it had raised from PrivatBankin east Ukraine, Profit paid Trade Point Agro Limited in London on Aug. 18, 2014 for 24,250 tonnes of polyethylene terephthalate, a polymer used in fabrics and plastic containers, according to a legal complaint Profit filed in November 2014 to try to recover the funds.
The central mechanism in the scheme was a series of insider loans to companies Kolomoiskyand Boholiubov controlled. In most instances, financial records show Ukrainian shell companies borrowed money from PrivatBank in Ukraine, then transferred it to Cyprus branch accounts held by offshore businesses, many of which were registered in the British Virgin Islands (BVI).
But the real puzzlement is that from everything that can be inferred, Burisma is either tiny or just a shell company. So who is behind these big director payoffs payouts? Richard found some bread crumbs that pointed to Burisma being owned by Privat Group, a conglomerate controlled by the Ukrainian oligarch Ihor Kolomoisky. Weâll turn the mike over to Mark Ames: Kolomoyskiy is the Berezovsky of current Ukrainian oligarchs. The dirtiest of the bunch, absolutely loathed by the IMF/creditor crowd especially for his theft of billions through the collapse of Privat Bank a few years ago.
The Biden (and now Kerry) scandal in the Ukraine is much more than about the money paid to Hunter Biden for being a Board member at the largest gas producer in the Ukraine, Burisma Holdings. The real scandal involves billions in funds from the IMF and US in aid that has gone missing.A controlling shareholder of Burisma is believed to be held by an entity called Privat Group:
THE PRIVAT GROUP, OR PRIVATBANK GROUP UKRAINE. PRIVAT GROUP CONTROLS THOUSANDS OF COMPANIES OF VIRTUALLY EVERY INDUSTRY IN UKRAINE, THE EUROPEAN UNION, GEORGIA, GHANA, RUSSIA, THE UNITED STATES AND OTHER COUNTRIES. STEEL, OIL & GAS, CHEMICAL AND ENERGY ARE SECTORS OF THE GROUPâS PRIME INFLUENCE AND EXPERTISE. NONE OF THE GROUPâS CAPITAL IS PUBLICLY TRADED ON ANY STOCK EXCHANGE.
Privat Group is controlled by Ukraineâs largest commercial bank, PrivatBank, whose owner was Igor Kolomoisky. PrivatBank was later nationalized by the Ukraine in December 2016, taking 100% control of the PrivatBank entity, a month after the 2016 US election:
The Biden family's dealings with this Ukrainian company involved getting one of the country's most notorious mob bankers, Ihor Kolomoisky, off the U.S. government visa ban list. Under Biden's leadership, $3 billion in aid went to Ukraine, and his son's company was implicated in the disappearance of $1.8 billion of that money.
IN AN EXPLOSIVE legal complaint filed last month in Delaware, attorneys for a major Ukrainian bank alleged that two oligarchs who founded the bank and controlled it from 2006 to 2016 laundered hundreds of millions of dollars in fraudulent corporate loans to purchase assets in the United States and unjustly enrich themselves and their associates
Dubbed the âOptima Schemesâ in the 104-page document, these âbrazen fraudulent schemesâ were successful, among other things, in making the oligarchs and their co-defendants the largest commercial real estate holders in Cleveland.
With money siphoned from public bonds and 20 million private Ukrainian citizens whoâd opened accounts with PrivatBank, the oligarchs Igor Kolomoisky and Gennadiy Bogolyubov, both of them Jews, doled out corporate loans to shell companies that they controlled. They used PrivatBank âas their own personal piggy bank,â in the words of the complaint.
The true origin of the money thus concealed, funds were then shipped to LLCs in Delaware (hence the legal filing there). Those LLCs â âOne Cleveland Center, LLC,â to take just one example â were used to acquire properties and metalworking facilities in the U.S. Kolomoisky and Bogolyubov are mineral magnates and own mining factories and metalworking plants in Ukraine.
The countryâs wartime production soon included the race to build nuclear bombs, after the Manhattan Project was established in 1942. Harshaw Chemical Company in Cleveland started refining uranium compounds to provide feed for the gaseous diffusion plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. B&T Metalsâa significant African American-owned business in Columbusâbegan making uranium rods and Baker Brothers in Toledo machined uranium rods into slugs for fuel reactors in Hanford, Washington; and Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Meanwhile, the Monsanto Chemical Company Central Research Facility laboratory in Dayton was tasked with producing polonium for the bombs.Â
An Ohio school has been forced to close for the remainder of the academic year after enriched uranium was discovered inside. Neptunium 237âa byproduct of nuclear reaction and plutonium productionâwas also detected inside Zahn's Corner Middle School in the town of Piketon, about 80 miles east of Cincinnati, WLWT reported.

QAnon figure BurnedSpy, whose wife works on the prime ministerâs staff, has propagated bizarre theories about Alexander Downer and Julie Bishop.
BurnedSpyâs Twitter account makes repeated claims about Downer, a frequent target of QAnon. In a thread last year, he linked a 1996 child abuse inquiry in Australia to Downerâs role in kickstarting the Russian interference investigation.
âItâs no coincidence that Downer did NOT want Trump elected,â he tweeted.
BurnedSpy explained the tweet to the Guardian by saying: âSo as for âgame onâ, for two years Iâve been interested in the Australian high commissioner to the UKâs involvement in what I consider as a coup against an incumbent sitting US president, I think thatâs a story.â
