New Zealand Catholic bishop resigns over sexual allegation

resigned after a young woman accused him of engaging in “unacceptable behaviour of a sexual nature”

Assuming that the young woman herself was the victim this resignation comes astonishingly fast by church standards. Usually that only ever seems to happen decades later if at all.

Drennan, 59, became a bishop in 2011 and took over in Palmerston North a year later.

previously worked for the Vatican’s Secretariat of State under St John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

was part of a Catholic group that was liaising on the Church’s behalf with a judicial inquiry into historical abuse of children in care.The royal commission, established last year, is examining abuse of children who were wards of the state or church between 1950 and 1999.

I wonder if his resignation has more to do with his work for the Vatican’s Secretariat of State and the Vatican raid a few days ago.

Hail Hydra! Usually I don't pay much attention to the doodles but this one stood out to me as we are still within "anniversary week" of the LV Route91 Harvest Festival massacre. Two years ago I made a thread in which a red octopus plays a little role as part of a mind control trigger within the movie Serenity (Firefly). Quoting from my thread:

In the 2005 movie Serenity is a scene where River, one of the main characters gets triggered by a TV commercial playing in the background of a bar. She falls in some kind of battle trance and goes all martial arts against everybody in the bar until her brother breaks her trance with a vocal command.

Anyway, even before I noticed the doodle this article stood out to me:

Was that another harvest ritual sacrifice? We have a triple 8 in the date and time. October was/is the 8th month of the Roman year. 32 candles for 31 victims. Seems a bit contrived. Obviously the number 32 is important in the ritual. 4x8=32. Stephen Paddock reportedly fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay where he had 23 guns (23 is 32 mirrored).

Yes, Hail "Hydra" (Marvel) is certainly a play on that, H being the 8th letter of the alphabet and the Nazis being part of that " mythology ".

For us October is the 10th month of the year. For Romans it was the 8th. More deliberate signalling.

"Hail Hydra". I actually recall a time when one could buy plastic soldiers that represented actual countries and actual conflicts. Now the plastic soldiers are differentiated by color only and they all have faces that look like those of the Han people. Where's my Afrika Korps and British Eighth Army? Save us, Airfix!

Napoleon was apparently well informed from the exposure to a book written by Sun Tzu about war. As many here know the 2000 + year old book Art of War is known among the more successful leaders in battle in the more modern times since the Medieval times.
So, probably thanks to the movement of peoples to escape the warring Khans a new trade route was created. And that is when the Marco Polo expedition took out for China. It is reasonable to assume that Sun Tzu strategies were revealed shortly after Marco Polo returned from Kublai Khan's court. He certainly was part of the opening up of the Eastern parts of Asia to trade.

I don't agree with (basically any of) Bernie's politics, but the man has the courage of his convictions, which is a rare thing these days.

This means Elizabeth Warren is now the Dem front-runner. As I said before (not sure if it was this thread), she's quite possibly an even worse candidate than Hillary Clinton! Warren is more like a bland, female version of John Kerry. (Remember him? When he ran for president, people were joking that Disney was trying to get one of it's animatronic figures elected.)
